I turned the game on 15 minutes ago and in that time I've seen Willson get thrown out trying to extend a single into a triple, collide with Norris on a pop up away from the shift, and throw down to first to make sure Rowdy Tellez wasn't getting any ideas of taking extra bases. Wouldn't be surprised if he tries to take an at bat left handed.

Morel with another nice AB to lead off the game. Started out down 1-2, took a couple of balls, fouled off a couple of pitches and then took a BB. Got to 2nd on a single by Willy. Stole 3rd and scored on a wild throw by the catcher.

Madrigal continues to hit the piss out of the ball, reaching on a high bouncer infield single

not only is the runner on 2nd rule phenomenally dumb, but they apparently worded it terribly too if Nico doesn't get to be the runner here
Wait, did Heyward get "skipped" in the batting order?

No he lined out to Taylor

No he was the last spot in the order to commit an out, then Madrigal stepped up and Hoerner got picked off.

Ah,ok. Seems like the right call for him to be the runner then. I hate the rule, but it makes sense to be the preceding position in the lineup who starts on second, not the player who made the last out.

Morel man, he just keeps going

Feel pretty ready to fire Schwindel and Rivas into the sun. Call up Young and Maldonado, they're probably not any better but let's at least start scratching a different set of lottery tickets.

My two take aways from the game:

1. JD quoted the Replacement’s “Hold My Life” when the Brewers catcher got hit in the groin by a foul ball. Warms this Gen X’er’s heart.

2. Now that there’s a DH in the NL, why on earth are the Brewers playing a guy in left field who can’t throw the ball.

I'm so impressed with his plate discipline, he's gonna have a lot more staying power with the types of pitches he isn't chasing, especially in a more reduced role down the line.

On an unrelated note, Yelich is 5 months older than Contreras and he's physically playing like he's a 35 year old who caught for a decade. He looks toast.

I can’t believe they are just going to trade away Willson. Much credit to him for being a vocal leader on the team despite knowing he probably won’t be here in August. They showed him on the on base circle motioning for morel to slow down and breathe before his sac fly. The young players in general seem to love him, it will be tough to see him dealt away

I wondered the same thing, and especially to have him out there in a situation where a sacrifice fly wins the game. He had no chance whatsoever to throw a runner out on anything but the shallowest of fly balls.

Yeah, that Morel flyout wasn't particularly deep, and Heyward beat the throw by plenty

Cubs sure getting fucked over with the schedule this week with 9 games in 7 days.

I could be wrong but I think every team has a similar stretch this year due to having to reschedule the first week of games this year. In this case both DH this week are replacing games from that 1st week

Monday's double header was from a rainout in the opening series. Saturday's was previously scheduled.

Crew should go back to trying to cheat/steal signs. Yelich was a much better hitter in those days.

I clearly haven't been paying attention lately, but why does Yelich look like Ryan Braun defensively, and Craig Counsell offensively?
