The cubs are playing much better than I thought this year only reason we are just below .500 are the bad calls by the umpires, I am not impressed with milwaukee or st louis. Both teams have been very lucky this season i still think both teams will come back to earth and I think the cubs will win the division this season. As long as the the umps don't keep screwing us over. I love this team and this years team is one of my favorites. Go cubs go.

We’re gonna start trading away our good player(s) in like 5 weeks dude

sooo...we'll be inactive since we have none?

To be fair, he allowed for the possibility that there could be a singular "good player."

The team is a lot better than their record so far.

But they're not winning the division or anything close to it.

I had Contreras in my head and then put the S in parenthesis once I realized that I couldnt think of any others.

Somebody might give up something of value for Hendricks, if he can string together a couple promising starts.

Yup. They projected as a 75-80 win team, and the underlying #s (I.e. controlling for their horsefeathers 1-run game record) think that's exactly what they've been

Yeah, and even average injury luck would have made things look a lot better, too.

Shoot for mediocrity and terribleness is on the table. That's just part of putting together a baseball team.

Pining for the 2022 Cubs to have been as "good" as they should have been:

The only way this is true is if PTR got a great deal for a refurbished PS4 and a used copy of Tom Clancy's The Division for the clubhouse.

It's a copy of The Show '20, and whoever is the player of the week gets their face taped over Javi's on the cover.

I think the projections for 75-80 wins were made by Cub fans. They were on a pace of 50-52 wins last year after the sell off and they're on a pace for 64 wins this year. As for their 1-run game record, that's what happens when you aren't a very good team.

I think you forgot to mention how awesome the Ricketts are and how they'll always do whatever it takes to put a winner on the field.

These guys suck, don't get me wrong, but...that is not how you analyze this kind of stuff at all.
