All the former Cubs hitting dongs in the playoffs. Rizzo, Schwarber, KB and even Joc.

Kimbrel felt left out that he couldn't hit one so he gave one up instead.

Interesting play in the 14th inning of the Rays-Red

Sox game. With a runner on 1st and 2 outs, there was a drive to right center that bounced off the warning track, deflected off the fielder and over the wall. The umpires called it a ground rule double and the Rays didn’t score.

The Red Sox then walked it off with a 2 run HR which makes it a bit less controversial

I wonder if the Rays can protest the game. I’m not sure what the rule is in that situation but the runner was rounding 3rd when the ball deflected off Renfroe. He clearly would have scored.

The rule is 2 bases from where the runner was at the time of the pitch.

Thought maybe there was some discretion when the ball is bouncing away from the wall, deflects off a defender and goes the other direction over the wall.

There should be, but nope.

I always understood it as the umpires had discretion about the baserunners as well. I've honestly never seen the umps give home to a runner on first, but if there was ever a time to do it... that was it!

Can someone explain to me how exactly this isn't runner interference? Grandal knows exactly what he's doing from the moment he sees where the ball is going. I've seen stuff about "establishing a baseline" but unless 1st base is 5 feet closer to 2nd than it actually is, his "baseline" isn't taking him to the base he's supposed to be running to.

I just got a kick out of him following the White Sox catcher tradition of horsefeathering with the umps and daring them to call him out in a playoff game, and with the guy who started that tradition calling the game, no less.

Yeah that’s such a [expletive] call/ruling. Grandal clearly was out of the line and intentionally went there knowing where the throw was going. Gets back to they should just add the double bag like in little league and softball. Runner can and has to stay on the foul side the whole time to hit the bag in foul territory. Would make first base collisions basically go away and get rid of a lot of these interference issues.

Braves have 1st and 3rd with 1 out. Flyball to relatively deep left. Both runners tag up, throw goes to second and that runner is tagged out before the runner crosses the plate and it costs the Braves a run

Brewers had runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs, and 8-9-1 coming up. They didn't score AND burned Freddy Peralta with a pinch hitter. Huge swing for the game there.

Four scoreless innings, 5 Ks. Guess who had over 5.5 strikeouts.
