With adding Schwarbs the Phillies are now only ~$8 mil below the LT, wonder if we could buy a prospect taking Gregorious back. He helps our need for a LHH IF.

Greinke or a comparable SP plus another reliever signing would bring payroll up to ~$170M. That's roughly where Opening Day payroll was last year.

All indications are that there's still room beyond that, as the team repeatedly claimed payroll was so low last year because they were bearish on how quickly they'd have fans back in the ballpark. But I don't think there's really any good sense of whether the limit for payroll's closer to 180 or more like 200-something.

They must think they can go full-Theo and flip Minor at the deadline for another prospect or two. Might not be too bad of a gamble - 2.3 WAR last year with FIP & xFIP almost .75 lower than ERA. If he comes close to that this year, they can definitely get something for him.

Amir/Javy still in the same division in what will be the last year of the heavily unbalanced schedule (that's a thing that's happening right?)... hell yeah

He handles RHP fine and isn’t a terrible target. Didn’t also realize Jed Lowrie is a FA too. Sign Moran and him for like $5 mil combined and we at least have some LHH IF/DH options and Wisdom/Frank/2B insurance. Also Asdrubal would be an okay cheap LHH option for 1B/DH and maybe some limited 3B.

Moran is 1B/DH only and offers no present guarantee of production or potential for better in the future, might as well use Rivas for those PA. As far as Lowrie goes, I generally like him but that window is probably closed. Other teams will have more middle infield PA to offer and he's coming off a fractured wrist which doesn't bode well for him to regain his pre-pandemic form at the plate(a necessity if he's playing any 3B).

Didn’t know Lowrie was coming off a broken wrist, pass then. Moran has had an OPS vs RHP between .760-.850 every year since 2018. I think there’s a decent guarantee he gives you a good OPS/splits vs RHP this year, he’s only 29. He’s not anything special but he helps.

David Robertson is a very good get IMO. Excepr for 2019 right before he had TJ (when he was presumably already hurt) he's been fantastic for his entire career. The track record post surgery is limited, but looks back to normal?

Robertson is a good get, like it a lot. Would like one more reliever, Archie Bradley is a FA and has always intrigued me. I like we’re going volume approach in FA for the pen along with quite a few internal options. Jed/Theo have always built good bullpens here, I’m willing to give them the benefit Jed will build a top 10ish bullpen in the league even if the options look questionable/weak.

So we're probably looking at this for the pen?

CL - Wick

SU - Robertson, Martin

RH MR - Rotating cast of two of the Iowa crew

LH MR - Wieck, TBD

LR - Thompson

Curious if they add a LH setup type, or if they're intending/expecting a SP add to bump Steele into the role

Chavez is in there, too.

Dongs > winning I guess

Yep. That deal just screams “I’m taking the most money and that’s the only reason I’m going there”.

Because my perception of the western United States is all skewed I thought maybe Colorado made sense as it’s close to Vegas and with twins on the way having family somewhat close by would be a perk but it appears Denver is about as far from LV as Chicago is from New York lol
