I don't love the idea of Kimbrel pitching in 3 straight games right now.

He didn't pitch on Monday. Second straight day. Before yesterday, he pitched on Saturday.

I stand corrected. I have no idea why I thought he did.

Lol Kimbrel’s arm isn’t right right now. Might sound reactionary but he just looked like he tweaked something getting the save against Arizona. His velo was down to 96.5 yesterday for the first time in over a month and then even more tonight. Maybe I’m just being a tweak because I’m worried it will hurt his trade value but I scout pitchers as part of my job and he looks off to my eyes.

If he tweaked something, he wouldn't be out there. I think it's probably just overuse and a bit of arm fatigue. He needs 2-3 days off and then hopefully he'll be fine.

I hope you’re right. I admit it could be irrational fear clouding my judgment.

Would you look at that, another game where a supposedly available off the bench star never leaves the bench despite a close game where it would've made sense at almost any time to put him in.

Yeah, if you include the ASG he worked in 5 of 8 days. Most likely just that.

Which raises the question of why the hell he was out there. That's not an unreasonable workload in general, but while we're being so shamelessly careful with KB's hamstring it seems weird to push Kimbrel that much.

Well the alternative explanation there is that KB is much more hurt than they're letting on (he can't play the infield in the bottom of the 10th?).

They just need to knock over the first domino at this point. Playing this series against a team with a similar record/skill set who is clearly not in a selling position is giving them too much incentive to win. Bring up those AAA arms and let's let them Marmol their way home the rest of the year.
