Tony Wolters is starting, which I assume means Contreras is sick or dead, because otherwise, why. The only way this would make sense is if our manager was a career light hitting back up catcher trying to look out for his own by sabotaging his team and depriving us of a pissed off Contreras going up against Brandon Woodruff's fake tough guy act.

Using this gif solely as an excuse to link to his stand up, which I've watched three times this week.

Yeah I wish Ross would have started at least one of Sogard/Wolters yesterday. Peralta has much starker splits than Woodruff, and doing both the same day makes this trend too much toward a Dusty Sunday Surrender Lineup

So the Cubs have apparently won some games, but in the two I've watched they've had a total of, like, 2 hits, so fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck this.

Raise your hand if already had enough of Joc and his K's. Honestly, the Cubs might as well start any inning he's due to bat with an out, he's literally no chance out there, none whatsoever. I know its a bit rash but, horsefeathers it looks like the guy' never going to even put the ball in play. Edited by gflore34

I'm not even suggesting Schwarber, I'm suggesting Ross and the Cubs not show that much patience and go with, someone, anyone who can make contact once in a while. At times K's aren't so bad but, there's also cases were it's helpful to put the ball in play which, apparently, Joc cannot do.

Joc looks awful, sure. But so has everyone else. They’re hitting .132 as a team.

And assuming they call J-Hey’s rolling bunt there an error, have a good chance of getting no hit today.

It's a little too early to give up on Joc. New team, new city. I think he'll end up better than Schwarbs.

He's had 14 ABs.

The Royals have 43 hits this season in 4 games. The Cubs have 18 hits in 5.3 games. The Dodgers have 76 hits in 6 games.

I know im beating a dead horse here but thats crazy

They’ve always struggled against Woodruff, Peralta and Suter and just Brewers pitching in general the last few years for whatever reasons. So this is somewhat to be expected but man it’s frustrating.

This would be a lot less concerning if we didn’t just watch a 60-game season where they hit .220 as a team and scored 1 or 0 runs in 10 of their last 21 games (playoffs included) followed by bringing back basically the exact same group of batters.

If it makes you feel better, my perception is that the Cubs are starting to be like this with the pitch lab taking lesser regarded pitchers and turning them into decent or even good pitchers. At least for the pen. The jury is still out regarding guys like Trevor Williams

(Brandon Woodruff is really good guys)

Yes but, to appear so feeble and having absolutely no chance in every at bat? Hell, yesterday that [expletive] Peralta hung a few sliders that were swung and missed on or turned into weak grounders.

All 9 of them? And that's generously including Hendricks and Wolters.

He’s probably in the top 5-7 SP in the NL and top 7-12 pitchers in MLB
