Robert stock is a fun guy to have in the mix for the 7th/8th spots in the pen. Really high octane stuff, though he's got problems throwing strikes.

I’ll be displeased with a Schwarber NT unless its followed up by signing him for cheaper.

Or maybe I should just accept that he’s gonna suck here and then explode once the Mariners or whoever pick him up.

I'll be happy for him if he does well elsewhere. Otherwise, that's also how I'm steeling myself.

I still had hope schwarber would become a consistent .900+ ops type player. Maybe a fresh start will help him achieve that.

Given that ole ricketty will just pocket this money gives me great sadness. Not really because of this decision but the foreseeable future for the Cubs seems so bleak.

I see the Schwarber news has generated another round of Gleyber Torres discourse from people who still haven't realized that he isn't good.

Last year aside, he’s largely been a league-average regular. With the DH in the NL, that’s a bat worth keeping around.

Given his extreme bumslayer status when he did hit well i don’t think you can assume last year is an aberration. But even if not, you’re basically describing Schwarber, which tells us the people bemoaning trading Torres have an inflated sense of his worth.

He’s talking about Torres not being good, not Schwarber.

Alberto makes a ton of contact, and absolutely murders lefties. He'd be a real solid bench option, though maybe doesn't make sense on a roster that already has Bote and Hoerner.

Do we know if it’s true? If so who is going to play LF? Happ?

Sounds like Abbott & Costello - who's in LF, who's at 3B, who's in CF, who's at the back of the rotation, who's in the bullpen.............

Are they allowed to sign him to a cheaper contract before the deadline?

Why would Schwarber agree to that though? He might as well at least test the market before taking a cut.

I guess it would depend on if he felt confident in this climate that somebody would pay him $6 million and might not want to chance it. I'm struggling to figure out what these guys are worth this offseason. Is it possible he only gets $4 million offers?
