Hopefully dexter hadn't already given up.

the Illini are trash

Pretty much sums it up at the moment, thought maybe, just maybe, this was the year we'd see a talented Illini team kick the crap out of teams. But, we're back to the same old horsefeathers - getting out hustled, out toughed, pushed around, out coached - although, I will say the officiating was a deciding factor in two of their three loses. Maybe they'll improve however, right now they're 7-10 seed, possible bubble team, just horsefeathering sucks, the talent is there, no question.

Brad has got to start working the refs, they're allowing a mugging of Kofi every time he gets the ball in the paint, its ridiculous, what's it going to take, Kofi hauling off on someone? Guess Brad has started working the officiating -

we'll probably see a change tonight vs PSU and maybe, a game or two thereafter then, the officiating will resort back to allowing teams to pound on Kofi.

The entire NCAA tournament this year will take place in the state of Indiana, making use of 4 facilities in Indianapolis (Lucas Oil stadium, Bankers Life Fieldhouse, Hinkle Fieldhouse, Indiana Farmers Coliseum) as well as IU's and Purdue's gyms in Bloomington and West Lafayette. Still projecting to have 67 games for 68 teams as of today.

They said Lucas would have 2 courts, but only one going at a time, I guess for a quick turnaround, while not wanting the whistle confusion that you see at high school/AAU multi-court tourneys.

Logistically, they only need 4 locations if you have 4 games a day at each place for opening Thursday-Friday. Sounds like Purdue and IU would be used for the first weekend only, maybe put 2 pods of 4 in each.

Quite the second half so far from the illini

53-13 second half makes up for the sleepwalking through the first half, but this is just unreal the difference.

How the horsefeathers is is possible for a college basketball team to pull off what Northwestern did last night. Yikes.

Maryland has a kid who should still be in high school, and Wisconsin's entire lineup has hit at least 2 reunions. I think that Trice dude played against Jess Settles and Robbie Hummel.

I was pretty down on them after their less than stellar efforts against Missouri and rightly so. What we saw tonight is a glimpse of what this team is capable of, it's there, they just have to want it enough. Guess 'Wood did not immediately enter the locker room at halftime, apparently, they were pissed and getting on each other about lack of effort. This pattern of 'Wood having to play mind games to get effort out of these guys doesn't sit very well, sometimes it doesn't work.

The Big Ten is so fun every night. I'm looking forward to the gauntlet Michigan will eventually have but certainly enjoying the currently destruction of the middle tier teams as well. It's hard to tell how good they are though until they start playing the trio of Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois

Michigan's schedule broke so favorably. Illinois and Iowa once apiece and both in Ann Arbor, and don't have to go to Rutgers, which is funny to write.

ETA: Though because of the depth, barttorvik still has you with the 2nd hardest schedule the rest of the way.

Another edit: I guess Illinois only plays Iowa once (in Champaign) too.

Yeah and we haven't played a team ranked better than 36 so far so we had a really soft cushion to start the year before it gets tougher. I was expecting a borderline tourney season and maybe it would have trended that way with a tougher start to the schedule, but we've been able to gain confidence, figure out rotations and determine Dickinson is a star. I'm sure we'll get batted around in February though.

Wisconsin's starting lineup is signifcantly older than the Bulls.

None of the top 4 have played each other yet, allowing them all to get a 2 game cushion on the rest of the league.

Meanwhile, poor Minnesota is 3-3 with losses to Wisconsin, Michigan and Illinois and victories over Iowa, Ohio State and Michigan State, and their next 2 games are Iowa and Michigan again.

Illini dropping a tough one at home to Maryland. They seems like a team that might take their occasional lumps in the regular season but have the talent to dominate in the tourney

I'm about ready to take a break from sports for a while.

Tough is right. It's tough to lose when you out-shoot, out-rebound, out-assist and out-steal the opponent.

Just one of those games where Maryland made just enough contested jumpers to keep close enough and beat Illinois at the free throw line.

Tough loss, but that kind of thing can happen in a relentless conference schedule.

I don't know, this Illini team can go from world beaters to losing to a not so good Maryland team in the blink of an eye. Prime candidates for a 2, 3 seed - 15, 14 seed upset or Final Four run, Underwood' got to kick them in the ass to get effort from them, must drive him crazy.

Michigan enjoyed a 36-3 run against a top-10 team tonight, firing on all cylinders seems an appropriate metaphor for their current form

Still the worst Kenpom team in the Big Ten though

Speaking of, currently obsessively hitting refresh on KenPom and barttorvik

One more Michigan brag. They’ve been so good lately that their 3rd most common lineup has been their garbage time scrubs lineup

Archie Miller advances to 0-8 against Purdue. Good job coach. :stickman:

Unless something dramatically changes in the next few weeks, or he wins 2 or more games in the tourney then it's time for him to go.
