Am I the only one that thought Foles was actually fine today outside of a few bad throws? This is all on Ryan Pace anyways. Jimmy Graham looks like the guy we thought he was. Robert Quinn has been invisible. He can't find a good QB if his life depended on it. He hired Nagy if you dislike him. It's time for him to go.

The problem is (like I said pregame) is that this offense isn't good enough to overcome those "few bad throws". It's not good enough to overcome false starts on 3rd and 4, or drops, or personal fouls where you punch an unsuspecting DB in the face. If Foles makes those throws it's fine if he can consistently take the team down like the last TD drive. He, more than anyone, should know he can't afford to do that with the guys around him and on his sidelines.

I almost hate Foles even more that he goes on good streaks. I was all for pulling him for Mitch then he puts together a drive. I don’t want to root for him to stop sucking so we can cobble together a game saving drive. It’s too stressful and doesn’t mean the Bears are good enough even if he succeeds.

Sounds like Mack and Patterson will play along with Robinson. Dwayne Harris was activated from the practice squad and will return punts today. So, the Bears will be improved there.

I'd love to see the Bears come out in 3-wide and just see what the defense does. Bears are MUCH better running out of 3-wide (11 personnel), by like 2 yards per carry, but run most with multiple TEs. I'd like to see them play Montgomery, Robinson, Miller, Mooney and Kmet for at least half the snaps today, mixing in Graham in the redzone, Patterson when Montgomery needs a break (not just to set up toss plays), and if they have to Demetrius Harris on short yardage plays. I'd even consider a Mitch package in short yardage, just to give the D something else to think about.

Defensively, I'd probably play exclusive nickel D. On early downs, play big nickel. Deon Bush over Skrine. Bush gives them another LB type at the 2nd level and serves the double purpose of taking Kamara in pass game assignments. Gotta keep the Saints from isolating Trevathan in coverage. He's a complete liability and easily the most exploitable part of this defense. Without Thomas, Sanders and Callaway; I'm fine with trusting Bush, Jackson, Gipson or even Roquan against whoever they put in the slot, except in long distance, which should put the Bears in dime anyway and take Trevathan off the field.

This game is winnable. But the Bears cannot afford mistakes on offense. Not even talking about turnovers. First 4 drives against the Rams, had a converted 2nd and 2 beyond the 50 called back by a holding call, which put them into 2nd and 12. Then a drop from Demetrius Harris which would have moved the chains. Then didn't protect for another 1/2 second which would have allowed Foles to (hopefully) find Miller breaking wide open for a potential TD, instead they settled for a FG. Then the false start on 4th and inches (QB sneak may have been short anyway). When you aren't talented or coached well enough to create something out of nothing on offense, you have to be mental mistake free. Penalties, drops, open receivers missed can't happen.

The Bears did come out in a lot of 3-wide and ran the ball much better. Most of the yards came on a 40-yard run by Montgomery on 3rd and 1, but that was also a 3-wide play. Kmet played 30 snaps, Graham played 40, but Harris only played 5. Graham's snaps increased when the Bears were trying to come back late and after Kmet's fumble that didn't count. Patterson only had 3 touches, one was a last option check down. Even got Mitch in on a wildcat like play. Someone was listening to me.

Trevathan stayed on the field and played OK. Not a lot of Bush, Skrine gave up a couple big conversions. Smith played very well. But they still couldn't stop Kamara. The bigger issue was redzone coverages that were soft.

Game obviously was winnable. Again had a false start on 3rd and 4. Dropped passes by Graham almost constantly. Foles missed throws and open receivers (saw a screenshot of a wide open Montgomery on a wheel route that went to Miller on 3rd down). He had Robinson open on the 4th down dropped INT. Again, you gotta play flawlessly on offense when you don't have the talent and coaching. They didn't.

Apparently Wims retaliated against Gardner-Johnson because on a previous play GJ tried to purposely poke Anthony Miller in the eye. This is the supposedly the same guy that Michael Thomas punched a few weeks back. Sounds like a real nice guy. Doesn't excuse the stupidity from Wims. By my count, the Bears could try and pick up two new WR's this week. Wims is nearly worthless, and Ginn is worthless.

I don't even want to talk about the game. All kinds of stupidity. I watched a lot of the Chiefs game before the Bears game, and the fluidity of their passing game doesn't look anything like the train wreck that Nagy tosses out on the field each week.

I haven't seen that kind of stuff from Wims before?

I think I'd cut him, half for that and half because he just isn't very good.

Yea I mean fights occassionally happen, but his seemed SO unprovoked, and when youre sitting halfway through year 3 and 27 career receptions... It's not like there's that much there to risk losing.

Let's see what Ridley has or practice squad WR, Ives.

I'm also grading Foles on a Bears QB curve. He's still bad. But I thought he was decent yesterday (at least compared to what most are saying) and don't get the calls for Trubisky. Don't think that game gets to overtime with Trubisky.

Apparently Gardner-Johnson ripped his mouthpiece from his helmet and threw it to the ground. Wims was removed from that particular series. It wasn't until the next offensive series that Wims was on the field that he retaliated. Stupid.

Seems like Gardner-Johnson will likely be at least fined for poking a finger inside Miller's helmet and ripping off Wims' mouthpiece.

Gotcha. Yeah, definitely not calling for Trubisky. It's pretty pointless. He's gone after the year. Foles is under contract. Might as well see if he can be a viable bridge guy for 2021.

Only if that bridge is trying to get the number 1 pick in 2022.

Well if that's the bridge they're going to do a lot worse than Foles even.

Top 15 with all your trade chips in tact will have to do.

I don't think Foles has ever finished a full season. If he starts next year, there's a decent chance we see Bray. IE, there still a chance at #1!

(just draft the NDSU guy and I'll deal with it)

The "bridge" is to the QB drafted this offseason. The Bears apparently don't want to throw a rookie QB in to start the season. So, when Foles gets hurt the rookie will take over is the plan.

I like the video I'm seeing of Zach Wilson; great arm, mobile, very accurate

I'm already seeing stuff about him surpassing Fields as QB2. Obviously a lot of noise at this point in the season though. Bears probably are picking in the middle of the round... Does that get them the QB 3 of the draft, or do they need to prepare to trade up if they want their top choice of the second QB in the draft?

Who are the QB needy teams?

If Jets get first pick, I'm sure they'll go Lawrence.

Several other teams could probably make strong arguments for a QB, but most have either a decent, albeit aging vet or have made a semi-recent investment that they might want to see out another year. Patriots and Jaguars are teams currently ahead of the Bears that seem most QB needy.

I don't think Wilson has a chance to pass Fields for QB2. One is dominating University of Houston, the other is dominating the Big Ten and will be in the CFP playoff. Plus, I still think Trey Lance is QB3. Teams are going to drool over a 20 year old with great size, arm and tools; with. 1000 yard rushing, 30TD/0 INT undefeated national title season as a freshman.

That being said, those top 3 have potential to go 1-2-3 in the draft. Definitely all will be gone top 10. So a trade up is probably in play at because of those teams named also looking for long-term QBs.

Never doubt the combination of implicit racism in QB evaluation and scouts love of finding hidden gems.

Matt Miller had a mock this week with all 4 in the top 9 (Lawrence, Fields, Lance and Wilson in that order). Bears got Mac Jones at 18 (Kyle Trask was picked ahead of Jones so 6 QBs went top 18).

Maybe it's best we start playing with no lineman so we can get into that higher group come draftday

Yeah, I saw that. Matt Miller used to have some connections, but he's so out of touch now. The Wilson hype train is out of control because BYU has played the most games in the country and I'm pretty sure all have been on national TV.

Six QBs is the record for the first round of the draft. And that was the legendary 1983 draft class. 1999 had five QBs in the top 12 (with QBs going 1-2-3), but the league was much more QB starved back then.

That being said, I could see 6 going in this draft if Mac Jones even comes out.

Lawrence- 1

Fields- top 3

Lance- top 10

Wilson- top 20

Jones and Trask- end of 1st.
