Can anyone explain to me why the players even wear helmets?

In case someone rips another player’s helmet off and tries to hit you in the head with it?? :dontknow:

Wait, is that not some kind of crime like assault? That's not not a weapon, right? Like he wielded it like a weapon, he had intent, that thing probably has some good skull bashing weight to it, *and* he even made contact! That's crazy, the NFL is such an abomination

It’s 100% an aggravated assault by definition

That’s completely out of character for Myles. Totally shocked and disappointed in his actions. Rudolph was trying to rip off Garrett’s helmet first but there has to be something more that made Myles snap like that.

He’s already been fined twice this year by the NFL for hits to the QB?

I would imagine and hope swinging a helmet at someone’s head would be out of character for just about anybody. But the fact of the matter is he has shown the propensity for going too far with QB hits already.

Yes, but it happened on a sports field so no charges will be filed.

Throwing a baseball at someone’s head would also be aggravated assault, but the “it’s just part of the game” laws keep the lawyers at bay

Not at all. Admittedly I haven’t followed his career as closely in the NFL but what I know of Myles he is the LAST person you would ever expect to do something like this. And just because he’s had some late hits on the QB doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be surprising that he ripped off a dude’s helmet and hit him on the head with it. That’s a huge leap of logic.

Against LSU my last year, I choked out their tight end two times in a row," Garrett said. "[Laughs] He had it coming. He just kept holding me, so I picked him up, put him on his back and then I grabbed his face mask and kept jamming his helmet into the ground. I said, "I'm setting you straight right now. Don't do illegal holds." Myles Garrett

Reasonable doubt plays a factor in throwing at someone's head. You can't argue reasonable doubt when swinging a helmet wildly at someone's unhelmeted head.

Did he choke him or jam his head into the ground?

What is wrong with you?

*Googles Myles Garrett college*

Oh. Nevermind.

Nowhere did I defend his actions last night. If he truly choked another player then that’s unacceptable as well. If he jammed another player’s helmet to the ground after a play then I’ll yawn at that. I’d wager 90+% of NFL lineman have done that at some point.

no you're just defending him as a person in a manner in which you act like you know him personally.

it's silly. we don't know any of these assholes or ultimately what kind of people they truly are.
