I was thinking primarily of Boylen.

gotcha.

i'm thinking we probably won't see him officially canned until the season is actually canceled. but who knows...this is a very weird situation.

Boylen released a statement praising the Bulls for the AK hiring which I thought was strange and funny. I would be shocked if he remained the head coach, but they might not make a decision on him until the season is officially cancelled. We're in that weird time where everyone is operating as if its the offseason, but the season hasn't technically been axed yet.

they probably could have just Office Space'd Gar... stopped paying him, put him at a desk in the basement with a stack of '90s college games on VHS and asked him to get ready for the draft

Cannot stress this enough - the Bulls organization instantly looks better in the eyes of potential big-name free agents with Gar Forman gone. His presence poisoned the well with players, agents, and other execs. Players talk, and Forman was deemed completely untrustworthy.

To all of Chicago and Bulls fans around the world,

Wherever you are reading this, I hope you are staying safe and healthy in these challenging and unprecedented times. Thank you to all of those on the front lines around the world who are working tirelessly to care for others and to restore health and safety for the rest of us. Your hard work does not go unnoticed, and speaking for my family, our gratitude is beyond measure.

My role with the Bulls is an unparalleled professional opportunity; the height of a dream for me. I grew up watching the Chicago Bulls – that team represented American basketball and the NBA to a kid from Lithuania. Like many around the world, I have always held a love for this franchise, which is why it is such an immense privilege to play a role in the revival of this legendary team. Though there will be challenges, these are challenges I feel well prepared for.

There are no shortcuts to success. A systematic approach is necessary, one that will be the product of focused and intentional hard work and diligence. My professional philosophy is rooted in the concept of "team": fostering cohesion through transparency, communication and functionality. I am committed to developing this culture and an expectation of winning for the Chicago Bulls.

I will look to get to know our roster, have constant communication with players and staff, create roster balance and stay creative when making deals. I will lead by example by giving my best, each and every day, in everything I do. I will work persistently to build a foundation worthy of the Chicago Bulls and Bulls fans around the world.

Let's be clear: our ultimate goal is to bring an NBA championship to the city of Chicago. This is what every team in the NBA strives for, day in and day out. In the end, only one team wins each season, and there are countless factors out of one's control that allow for this goal to be realized. What IS in our control, is our approach and processes behind each decision we make. We will adopt a habit of excellence and as a team, we will expect and demand a lot from each other, in order to rise to the expectations of our fans.

I want to thank Jerry and Michael Reinsdorf and the entire Bulls organization for presenting me with this opportunity and welcoming me and my family to Chicago. This is a great sports town and Bulls fans are among the most passionate in all of sports. They deserve a team they can be proud of. My objective is to bring this team back to relevancy. Our objective collectively, is to win. I am incredibly excited for the future of the Chicago Bulls.

I cannot wait to get started.

Arturas Karnisovas

Go Bulls!

Listened to his press conference call. He definitely was not the type who was willing to offer up too much. Kept things very close to the vest. Still, he dumped Gar, so he's already gotten his first A grade. Let's hope it's not too much longer until Boylen bites the dust.

Also mentioned that Thibs wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility to return as coach

I like this. Seems like Eversley is was great at building relationships with players and agents, and his background of building brands with players with his time at Nike should help with recruitment. Would have liked a former player, but my very uneducated opinion is that this is a good hire. Also still has strong connections with Toronto, which further increases the likelihood of Adrian Griffin at the next coach.

In his latest mock draft, he has the Bulls taking LaMelo Ball...

Not a big fan and I wouldn't be happy with that choice. I think he'll be an okay PG and is an excellent passer. I just doubt he'll ever develop into a star/impact player in the NBA because he isn't a great scorer or shooter. Questions about his defense too.

Is Melo the middle Ball or the youngest one? I can’t keep them straight.

LaMelo is the youngest one and is considered the most talented player in the family. Scouts and execs inside basketball have been following him for years.

More from this mock draft:

The Bulls have turned into something of a wild card on draft night because of the hiring of Arturas Karnisovas as their president of basketball operations. Previously, you could feel confident that the Bulls would take a high-performing college player, and often that player would have either Midwest or blue-blood ties. Now, it’s unclear what direction they’ll go. This pick is a bit more of a dart throw than even the other ones at this early stage of the process.

I definitely think the process is going to be different now with Karnisovas and Eversley in charge. I don't think the Bulls really used analytics when it came to scouting draft prospects.

I honestly wouldn't mind them trading down if Karnisovas doesn't see a player he really likes at the top of the draft.

Matt Lloyd who was credited a lot with their good drafts was apparently an early analytics adapter, whatever that meant 8 years ago or whenever he left.

I'm not familiar with Matt Lloyd and any draft picks associated with him? What draft picks have we taken where analytics came into play or were part of the evaluation?

Doug McDermott was a good outside shooter, but analytics said not to take him so high because his steal and block rate was so low in college. Like I really don't think the Bulls ever used advanced analytics when it came to drafting players...

Well no one knows exactly how influential he was, but his last draft with the Bulls was 2011, which was immediately followed with Teague, Snell, McDermott.

Good summary, and mentions vaguely use of analytics.

The next 3 picks were bad and the McDermott selection was really bad...

I read the article, but some of those earlier picks are no-brainers like Derrick Rose (you don't need analytics to tell you DRose is awesome lol). Joakim Noah is such a weird player, but he went about where he was suppose to go according to most experts. I think analytics would not be high on him (subpar wingspan for a big with an unorthodox release on his jumpshot).

I heard Forman was the main reason behind the Bulls taking Taj Gibson and Jimmy Butler. I follow the Bulls pretty closely and I've never heard of this Matt Lloyd dude. I'm sure he helped, but the Bulls have long been known around the league for being behind in analytics/R&D.
