Paxson/Gar/Boylen recruitment meeting with AD would be just them playing a video of all of the 'Howard Ankin + Chicago sports person' Ankin Law Offices commercials to let him know all the sponsorship opportunities that await him in Chicago.

It's looking like there will be no Bulls representation at all during All-Star weekend at the United Center which is super embarrassing.

No All-Stars in the actual game, LaVine declined the Slam Dunk invite, I don't think any Bull was invited to the 3 point contest, Coby White was not invited to the Rising Stars game. Wendell Carter was but was already ruled out with his injury and replaced by Zion.

Because I'm a nerd, I went back and looked at the last 13 All-Star games (except the year when the game was in Las Vegas).

In 11 of the 13 years, a hometown player made the All-Star team. In the other 2 years, there was at least 1 hometown participant in either the Dunk Contest or the 3 Point Contest (generally the premiere All-Star Saturday events), and multiple players in the rising stars.

So the All-Star game will be in Chicago but the Bulls will be virtually non-existent all weekend its looking like.

Lavine should have gotten a spot. Like would it really have mattered if Lowry was left off and LaVine was added? It could have gone either way, why not give it to Lavine? Booker being left off is beyond ridiculous, as well, if you’re really that insistent on getting the most deserving players in. Especially when you put Ingram in ahead of him.

Also where did you read Zach isn’t doing the slam dunk? Most recent interview I saw he is still considering. It looks like he wants to do the 3 point contest too. Maybe he’s gonna say both or none to the NBA?

I was basing it off his prior comments where he said he didn’t think he would do the dunk contest unless he was picked to be an all star but I saw the recent interview too so I guess he’s changed his mind. Good...this is pretty the first all star game for a non-Sox Chicago team since I think 1991 and have been excited for this. Would have killed a that enthusiasm if there was literally no Bulls presence there

Edit: also kind of crazy that the United Center has been open for 25 years and has never held an NHL or NBA All-Star game

How did White get left out of the Rising Stars game?

https://www.nba.com/allstar/2020/rising-stars-roster#/

Looking at the USA roster, I am not sure if there is an obvious player that Coby should have been in over. If they went back to the Rookies vs. Sophomores format he probably makes it as there are multiple World players that he is having a better season than.

Maybe Trae Young will sit out of the game and open up a spot for White.

Maybe not but with the game in Chicago I'm surprised he wasn't included.

Why not trade for Drummond if that’s all it cost? See how he fits with Zach and Lauri (if/when healthy) and if it goes well you have an advantage to resign him. He’s FAR from perfect or even a great fit, but he’s the highest quality player we can realistically expect to be able to sign to pair with Zach. You can then use Wendell as trade bait to get an actual playmaking point guard or split minutes with Lauri and backup Dre. Also, bring home Rose.

the only thing worth rooting for with this team is getting the 7th pick again because it's all they're good at.

Honestly the top of the draft looks weak, I think I'll actively root for them to get the 7th pick just for the hilarity of it.

Get the man some help for horsefeathers sake.

Well, if he had Porter, Lauri and Carter, it would help.

Mind you, they'd still suck, but it would help balance the load.

This is how it works out when LaVine is your best player. The Bulls might be a bit better if they had better complementary pieces, but the league is too good for LaVine-as-best-player to result in much of anything.

Mind you, I still really like the guy. Plays his ass off every night.

I like how the weather decided to put an exclamation point on Chicago being basketball hell for all of the all stars and media coming to town this weekend.

Hilarious timing because I believe its been one of the warmest winters on record up to this point.

i've seen a point being made of this (at least half seriously by some), but, eh, meh? these guys have all been to chicago many times, and many of them are on teams where it's just as, if not more, crappy all the time. it's not like this is their first and/or only time here to suddenly paint their idea of it.

Yeah, not saying this is going to change players opinions on ever wanting to play here. It's just funny that Chicago is the center of the basketball world this weekend, and the Bulls

- front office is a punch line

- head coach is a punch line

- team sucks

- only representative is in the 3 point competition

and now the weather sucks

There's an article on The Ringer today about the 88 All Star game in Chicago and apparently the weather was even worse for that one, with overnight lows near -20 and with wind chill -60. So I guess it could be worse?
