Just because I recently looked it up, I know that Dave Martinez signed the exact same contract (years wise) with the Nationals 3 plus club option

If the Nats don't tear that contract up after this season and give him more money, they are jerks.

My theory is that Ross is going to be a good thing, I'm optimistic he'll be able to help facilitate better player development and reverse the regression we've seen the last few years. I think other candidates could do that too(I'm not convinced he's clearly the best option), but Ross isn't just a guy.

 

I also think that he's going to be less articulate to the media than Maddon, and as a result when he inevitably makes a few 50/50 or 40/60 decisions that fans don't like(every fanbase thinks their manager is an idiot at managing a bullpen), they/we are going to hate him wayyy quicker than it took to hate Maddon.

Maddon talking about bunting already makes me feel pretty good. Hopefully Ross isn’t so sensitive about stuff like the lineup, too. To me, he is there for all the intangible stuff.
