I’d rather watch a 60ish win rebuild season than this horsefeathers
You aren't wrong. Watching the rebuilding Cubs teams and enjoying the occasional sparks of hope was so much more fun than watching this bunch of underachieving clowns.

I haven't been in the fire Maddon camp, and I still doubt that is the answer... But if Theo/Jed think there is any chance that could salvage the season, the move has to be made now.

The problem IMO is the roster. The bullpen especially is horsefeathers and the offense isn’t deep.

The owners going on the cheap in the off-season is coming back to bite them in their Trump loving ass.

Unloveable Losers.

The sad thing is there is not much in the minors either. Most prospects were traded away so help isn’t down on the farm.

Theo should fire Jed and step down really. This season is going exactly as last year did only they're not waiting until September to blow it.

That’s why you don’t put the winning run on horsefeathering base

No, it’s why you don’t load the bases. The Moran at bat was the issue.

You still don’t put the winning run on base. Why make it so a double loses you the game?

Bell’s been garbage for two months. No need to walk him.

You aren't wrong. It might not matter, but with just 40 games left in the season, it's worth a try. It's probably over either way, but at least they'd be trying one last option rather than just watching the team slowly quit.

The only reason it won't happen is that I'm not sure any of the management team wants to end this five-year run of winning by firing the manager that led the team to a World Series title. I think they'd rather just end the season and have a clean break.

But I'd like to see them do it.

How was this Maddon's fault? Pulling Hendricks was genius, they had to score there or they don't score at all. What's he gonna do with the bullpen? Literally anyone he puts out there is gonna blow it.

Too easy of an excuse. I believe it runs much deeper than that.

I didn't actually watch the game, but it seems like he just left Kintzler in there to die instead of at least trying CPR by going to someone else.

The problem with the Cubs roster construction is that it always depended on the young guys being awesome and cheap. Only KB and Javy have been consistently good, though Willy had a great year (pre-injury) this year after an awful one last year. Getting very little (compared to what we hoped for) from Schwarber, Russell, Almora, and Happ in addition to Heyward, Morrow, Darvish (until the last couple months), and maybe Lester now struggling to live up to their deals (or even completely falling apart) has made for the perfect storm of frustrating baseball.

His poor pen decision yesterday bled into today. Maddon has been very bad at handling the pen.
