I haven't watched much of the NBA in years but I am excited about the possibility of adding Zion or Morant to the Bulls. That would get me back in the game, I think. Fingers crossed the Bulls snag one of the top 2 spots tonight.

Tonight is huge. Are there are any good point guards worth a top 5 pick besides Morant? It seems like this draft has depth at the 3D/wing position but that doesn't help the Bulls much with Otto Porter and his big contract there.

Porter has two years left (second year is a player option), and I think with that trade the Bulls pretty much took themselves out of contention for any top FA in this offseason and next. 2020, just from skimming the list, looks like AD and Ben Simmons with player options are the only real game changers, and I'm stretching that term for Ben Simmons, the third best player on a team that just lost in the conference semis.

All this to say that the current version of Otto Porter should absolutely not impact this draft pick in any way. We can more than afford to carry his contract for the next two years as a really expensive lottery ticket.

PG Garland from Vandy is worth the pick at 4-5. After him and Morant, there's not a PG until the end of the 1st.

They shouldnt shoehorn themselves in too hard for a PG anyways. Just get the best wing or PG you can. There are some PG FA options if they want to move past Dunn fully, or just say F it and try Lavine at PG for like 20-30 minutes a game.

For sure, they can definitely draft BPA but man I really want a good point guard if they can't get Zion.

I'm fully expecting a kick to the gut tonight (Picking 7 again, or thereabouts)

Expect the worse, hope for the best.

Regarding impact, potential game changing players, does this draft boil down to 2 players? Maybe, for those not so convinced of Williamson' potential, even 1 player?

LOL WUT?

There's not-too-crazy analysis out there that has him likely ending up more as a Larry Johnson-type than the godkiller a lot of people are assuming. Which, hey, isn't a bad thing.

I think he’s being overblown as a Lebron or KD type franchise changer, for sure top 1-3 player in the league, that guarantees conference/finals runs with pretty much just him and role players. You have to take him #1, don’t get me wrong. But I think how it’s being talked about as an afterthought that’s he’s a lock to be this for sure great player is a bit much. He’s much more likely some weird new age combo of Draymond/Julius Randle/Blake Griffin type player to me. Which is perfectly fine.

There is a risk. He is sort of a tweener if you want to nitpick.

Yeah, some people are talking about him like he's a lock to be another Giannis, which, OK; calm WAY down, folks.

My hot, maybe not so hot, take is this draft pretty much sucks. It’s a bunch of role players/2nd-4th best players on a championship team at best (even Zion and Morant) and the media/narrative around it is trying to push guys to be things they likely aren’t at the NBA level because there always needs to be a GUY or GUYS taken high.

Agreed. There's a bunch of "someone's eventually gonna have to pay a max contract to a guy who's not REALLY a max contract guy" guys in this one.

That about sums it up, if the Bulls end up 4, 5, 6 or 7 they're left with a Hunter, Garland, Culver or Reddish, etc. none of them anything special.

yep -- if the Bulls don't end up in the top 3, they're probably taking the guard version of WCJ. A solid player, but not someone you're going to build around as a main piece on a title contender.

i'm sorry, but that Porter trade still makes no sense to me. there's a slim to none chance that they would've landed any of the big name FA's this offseason anyway, but i still would've rather had that slim to none chance than to take yourself completely out of the running by keeping Otto Porter Jr's contract for the next couple of seasons. plus, if you didn't end up with any of the big name FA's this year, it would've been even easier to continue the tank for 19-20 instead of playing yourself back into NBA Hell by being right around the 8th-10th range in the East.

but i don't know. just win the damn lottery and get Zion so I can legitimately celebrate the Bulls for the first time since the Rose buzzer beater against the Cavs.

This is exactly what the NBA wanted. A few low odd teams moving up. Teams are less encouraged to tank. Waste a whole season of losing and end up with the 7th pick again

Could see NO taking Zion and then trading AD to Knicks for 3rd pick, Knox and maybe a future pick and then take Barrett
