Freakin Cincinnati. If the Cubs miss the playoffs, the Reds will be the #2 culprit, behind the Cubs themselves.

Looks like we need to win tonight or face being just 1.5 games up on a playoff spot.

The ONLY culprit is the Cubs. The Reds have zero responsibility to help the Cubs win anything.

Astros 36 runs in two days so far. Must be nice

A day after scoring 11 runs in the first two innings, the Astros gave up 11 in three innings. Miley faced 9 batters and got 1 out.

Yelich fouled a ball off his knee in the first and didn’t finish the AB and had to be helped off the field. He isn’t in the dugout and there hasn’t been a single update until just now the broadcast said no update will be given u til the post game press conference. Brian Anderson made it sound ominous.

Fractured knee cap. Done for the year.

That sounds like something that may have lasting effects even after it’s healed. Hope not, rival or not you don’t like to see that happen.

Brewers down 7-0 in the 6th. Flaherty is pitching tomorrow also so realistic chance they get swept.

Cardinals have Scherzer/Corbin/Strasburg in the next series coming up so if we can man up for once and sweep this weekend I think we want the VBs to take 1 if not 2 of the next games. But that assumes we are good and can win.

Agreed. If we can pick up 1 this weekend, we'd have a two game cushion on the Brewers and would be three back of the Cards. Hope Washington can win that series and if we just win the series against the Reds, we're only two back going into the 4 gamer at Wrigley next weekend.

Bottom line, is the Cubs just need to win games and good things will happen if they do.

Charlie Culbertson gets drilled in the face while bunting against Rodney. Umps, very wrongly said he attempted to bunt at said pitch. Manager gets tossed. Braves respond getting 4 breaking a 1-1 tie in Washington

Brewers up 3-2 in the 8th. Hold on, please.

EDIT: Make that 5-2 as Grandal homers.

you will regret this

I assure you I will not.

I still think we have a realistic shot at the division and the main thing I wanted this weekend for for neither team to sweep that series. Tomorrow, I care more about the Cubs winning than the result of the other game.

And the bottom line is I want the Cards to miss the playoffs and the more they lose, the more likely that is.

If we miss out on the division by a game to the Brewers but the Cards miss the playoffs because the Brewers win 2 of 3 this series, I can live with that.

I feel like if your main goal is to have the Cardinals not make the playoffs -- other then the Cubs making it - then I don't think anyone can tell you you will regret it cheering against them.

However, I don't think St. Louis is sweeping the Nats, but I do see the Brewers sweeping the Padres in all four games, and I see a very good scenario where the Brewers glide by us while we are tying to pass the Cardinals. I think it was better to knock the Brewers back from us by three games.*

Any way, I know what I'm trying to say, but I'm not really sure I'm making any sense. And I don't drink so I can't blame it on being drunk.

I still say screw the Cubs for not taking care of business last weekend and not even making this as much of a convo.

* To be fair, I clearly loathe the Brewers so of course I think it would be better.

The Padres and Brewers are pretty even teams, I think the Padres get at least one and probably split.

Anyways I agree with the sentiment that I didn’t want a sweep in the STL-MIL series either so that’s accomplished. Ideally we win 3 of our next 4, Cardinals beat Brewers tomorrow and get swept or lose 2 of 3 to the Nats this week and then we don’t need to care as much about the Brewers if they lose tomorrow and Padres get 1 or 2.
