Or the Cubs pass up the Cardinals but also get passed up by Milwaukee for the division.

Milwaukee is in a really good spot

Unless they moved the city recently, that's not true at all.

I know this was meant as a joke but as a history major it struck a cord with me. Milwaukee was a major port located where it was because major winter storm patterns tend to make it milder than the rest of the area. It also had access to a lot of indian tribes and a lot of natural resources. Out of all of the cities in the country the spot MIlwaukee is located in is easily top 10% for usefulness.

Chicago by itself was not very useful outside of the canals, it brings almost nothing good where it is located from a pure resource standpoint. It is a very natural travel hub as travel to more useful areas all went through the middle of the illinois. That is why it developed into a large city. People used it to get somewhere else and eventually people lived there just to live off of people moving somewhere more useful. That obviously also makes it a very useful location for both railroads and river barges.

Bruce Bochy special in progress! Bumgarner goes the first 7 innings and Bochy then uses 8 relievers to get through the next 4 innings. He's brought in a 9th reliever for the 12th inning.

For comparison, in the same game, Colorado has used 7 relievers to pitch 7 2/3 innings.

The Giants used 13 pitchers in a game, which tied a record held by them a week ago and the Rockies. Arizona also used 13 pitchers yesterday.

The Giants and Rockies combined to use 25 pitchers in the game which is a new record.

It's hilarious that now that I'm cheering hardcore for the Cardinals they have turned into the Cubs the last two games.

Man, the horsefeathering Brewers are actually going to win the division because they never lost a game.

as much as i believe in the brewers bs magic, i don't care if they win the division or not, because i'm not concerned about them in the playoffs. that team is not winning the world series. yeah crapshoot blah blah blah. they aren't going anywhere. well, they're going to the playoffs. but they'll lose, and this stupid run of theirs will once again mean nothing. they currently own us, but who cares. we've won a world series in recent memory, and we'll go into next season with a better roster than them.

Any team that finishes the season 21-2 has to be considered a threat.

The hot hand theory going in to the playoffs has been disproven over and over again. Especially with a flawed roster like they have. Their wins in this stretch are vs the Marlins, Pirates, Reds, our dead ass team, 3 vs Astros and Cardinals combined, and the Padres. They’ve accumulated them on a soft schedule. It’s still an incredible run, kudos to them. They’ll lose in the playoffs soon enough.

Indians really choked on the chicken bone down the stretch. How you get blown out by the White Sox when you're in a WC race is beyond me.
