Almora is a fine option to lead off against a lefty.

He should never, ever see a PA against a righty if it can be avoided, though.

He’s fine to play vs lefties, preferably he’s hitting lower in the lineup still as we still have 4-6 better leadoff options vs LHP than him. I know I’m somewhat irrational, but that June on last year was BAD and there isn’t a ton to fall back on to be overly optimistic he’s going to figure it out. He might just be a shitty offensive player and our manager loves him.

I hope Almora goes 5-5 just to piss you all off.

I’ll gladly take it (they’ll be 5 of the most well places GBs we’ll ever see most likely) and hope he does well and figures it out to be a solid contributor all year. I’m not actively rooting against him to be bad or anything, just frustrates me to see him put in spots/roles he shouldn’t be in a lot of the time.

Pretty much guarantees Almora leads off/takes our first AB of 2019, horsefeathering fantastic.

did Almora punch you or a loved one in the face

he did but it was such a slow and weak hit that I can’t hold it against him.

The first pitch a Cubs hitter saw last season went for a HR and it ended up being a very boring season. Maybe Slappy will set us up for some excitement with a slap up the middle

Why does that feel like 3 years ago

Because Cubs fans age faster than other people?

Taking this to the next step, what do you think the opening day lineup will be? I’ll go;

1. Almora CF

2. Bryant 3B

3. Rizzo 1B

4. Zobrist DH

5. Javy SS

6. Bote 2B

7. Willy C

8. Heyward RF

9. Happ LF

Not overly surprising, but that means Q will be the 4/5 starter in the rotation the first time through. Wouldn’t be surprised if Darvish/Hamels are 2/3 in some order to get a start in Texas as a bit of a reunion thing. Seems like something Joe would do.

Kintzler and Duensing and dangerously high in the pecking order for leverage spots the first month +/-. The margin is so tight for the division those assholes may end up costing us the division by May. Just go sign Kimbrel you fools.

Can’t wait until Carl balks in a run to blow the save in our first game.

That is if Duensing or the guy we just lowballed because he had mono don’t blow it in the 8th.

don’t worry guys our top scout tom ricketts* said our bullpen was fine what is the problem

This is pretty fortunate timing for where we are on the calendar. Even if this injury keeps him out a month from when it occurred, that's only 10 games. And with all the off days the first few weeks of the season we can lean on Cishek et al without actually working them all that hard.

Although Pedro showed last September that he's wolverine so this is all moot

I don’t think we needed an injury to happen for that to be the plan. He was used at a negligent level last year and I don’t see that changing much this year.

Seriously, just go sign Kimbrel to the swell opt deal thing. 2/~$45 guaranteed, he can opt out after this year (structure it like $22 mil this year, $23 next year). Then we get another 2/$~35-45 option on him after the 2nd year or else he can be a FA again and there’s like a $5 mil buyout if we don’t exercise the option.

This is pure laziness in asking this here, but what's the current situation on Morrow?

no morrow, and no morrow, and no morrow,

creeps in his petty pace but still not even day to day,

to the last syllable of recorded time
