Urlacher called the plays but Brown called all the audibles, setting up the secondary. Harris was having an all-pro year.

We got hosed

We did, but that SB was very winnable, especially after the Hester TD to open the game.

Yeah, blame the defense all you want but the offense did absolutely nothing all game. They did have a TD drive in the 1st quarter that was I believe 100% running plays, and a FG drive that was all of 14 yards long, but there was basically no offense the entire rest of the game for the Bears.

wasn't the actual TD on that drive a pass to moose?

of course, i could just look this up

Duh...yeah sorry, everything but the actual TD was a running play

Edit: It was a 52 yard run, 1 yard run, 0 yard run, and then the 4 yard TD pass

i'm mildly annoyed at lots of people (mostly people older than most of us) acting like this is the first time the bears have been good since the 80s.

Listening to the Score a bit this morning, subject was Trubisky' home/road splits compared to those of Mahomes. Mahomes is actually better on the road - 125+ QBR vs. 105+ QBR at home, what he's doing is phenomenal, could this be a one-in-lifetime season we've seen many good players have (Yaz in '67, Yount in '82, Boudreau in '48 as examples from Baseball) or is he really this good? Mitch is something like 97+ vs. 88+.

It's a combination of him being really good and the way the game has changed.

I mean Mitch has a rating in the 90s and nobody thinks he's any damn good nationally.

Not that it matters but, I don't know if Mitch will ever be good nationally, he's bad because the Bears overpaid to get him and that's always going to be the opinion.

nah, not if he's actually good and has a good career. that's silly. but he does seem to have an uphill climb due to that.

This is really weird. First, having a rating in the 90s ranks him 19th in the league. So if you around going to act as thought Mitchell hasn't been getting recognition for being good, at least use something that actually shows he's in the top half of the league.

Also, if he actually does continue to improve nobody is going to give AF about how much they gave up and he will be considered to be good nationally (whatever that means).a

He's got a long way to go though.

. but he does seem to have an uphill climb due to that.

Oh come on.

He has an uphill climb because the beginning of his career hasn't been all that great.

there is that, but i think the move got so much ridicule that the national guys have taken a narrative and run with it. the coverage of that draft ("ryan pace just got himself fired") was ridiculous and it was obvious at the time.

hilarious to look back at now... trubisky, cohen, jackson...shaheen can still be a thing, too.

i mean, the expectations for a first year qb playing in the situation he played in last year shouldn't have been so high nor was his performance so bad that he should have been looked at all that negatively, imo.

he's top 5 in the league in QBR, which has its flaws as a predictive stat, but accounts for his running and isn't bad at describing what actually happened.

I think you are grossly exaggerating how much the national guys care about that trade.

If he does well his national reputation will improve. But he's looked pretty bad at times so it'll take time.

If he plays better in nationally televised games, his national standing will improve. All his national appearances have been either mediocre or bad. He had an 83 rating against Seattle, a 61 rating against the Vikings, and a 33 rating against the Rams. 7 of his twelve picks have been in nationally televised games. Those performances stick with people.

He was a solid pick at #2. No one thought Mahomes would be better at this point, arm strength be damned.

Compare to supposed run away winners in the trade, the Niners, the Bears 2017 draft is really impressive.

I already feel more confident with him under center than Jay Cutler at any point and I was a Patented Cutler Defender for whatever that’s worth. He still needs plenty of polish but if he avoids injury (that if is a big if given the way he plays) I expect him to be a very solid top 10 QB when he hits his peak.

I don’t think he’ll ever be a top 5 Drew Brees type QB, and I guess that sucks from the stand point of the trade and the pick, but he’s a very solid factor and if you can keep an excellent defense around for a while a la the 2014 Seahawks you can snatch a Super Bowl with him. Come to think of it, I think Russell Wilson is a decent comparison.

Really wish the Panthers could have finished off the Saints last week. Yesterday’s results put the Steelers in a position of desperation tomorrow (at NO). They will probably pull out all the stops to win because losing makes it pretty unlikely that they make the playoffs

Bears would be undefeated if they had Mahomes, Watson or Mayfield.

Nah

Watson just gave Houston the lead, completed TD bomb to some dude from Limestone College - didn't know they had a football program, great lacrosse program though.

Cody Parkey needs to be taken behind the barn and out of his misery.

Honestly the only thing I could be upset about with this front office is their commitment to this terrible terrible kicker
