Ian Book out for ND with a rib injury (some sources saying kidney injury), Brandon Wimbush in for this week and possibly more.

I’ve never seen a punter have such an affect on a game as this OSU-MSU game. In a 1 score game, the punt team forced MSU to start 5 straight drives inside the 6 yard line. MSU took a safety to try to change field position and then OSUs punter pinned them at the 2 again. Next play a fumble in the end zone for an OSU TD. Crazy

and his first punt of the day was 4 yards

Watching live, it looked legit at first. Guy sticks his arm out right as the Bama player dives then puts his arms up like he didn’t do anything (which seems to happen on like 98% of blocks in the back). The difference is in this case he didn’t do anything. And the ref hi threw the flag was in the right position but that happened to be the worst view to make that call correctly.

But yeah, the ref blew that thing horribly.

Northwestern wins the Big Ten West despite going 0-3 in non conference.

Be interesting to see how the committee looks at Big Ten if a 1 loss OSU or Michigan beats NW while a 1 loss Oklahoma is beating West Virginia for the second week in a row.

Right now basically 4 of these 6 are going the make the playoff:

-Alabama

-Georgia

-OU/WVU 2x winner

-OSU/UM winner

-Clemson

-Notre Dame

Outside shot of Washington State or UCF

I don't think there is any realistic path for UCF to make the playoff. At this point, the interesting scenario would be if Clemson, ND, Michigan and Georgia win out with Bama losing to Georgia in the SEC championship. Would be awful for SEC to steal two spots two years straight.

I don’t see a G5 team ever making the playoff until it expands. For a G5 team to make a 4 team playoff they’d have to have one hell of a schedule, but the problem is that nobody wants to schedule a G5 team good enough to knock them off.

Yeah but it would definitely take away Michigan’s potential spot. Alabama has played so damn dominantly that it would be hard to see them dropping completely out with a neutral loss to a 1 loss team.

I was somehow (foolishly) hoping that the selection committee would be different or more interesting than the BCS, but it feels like its just as predictable as ever.

I think Bama gets left out in that scenario. The reason they got in over OSU last year was because OSU had two losses and the second loss was by 31 to Iowa. If OSU had won that game and went 12-1 with the Big 10 title, they’re in and there’s no controversy. They might have gotten in if they lost that Iowa game by less than 7 also.

The is not a scenario that exists where a 1 loss BAMA team is kept out of the playoff. They will find any rationale they can to put them in.

If you’ve got 13-0 Clemson, 12-0 ND, 12-1 Mich/OSU, 12-1 WVU/Oklahoma and 12-1 Georgia, Bama isn’t getting in. They’d be ranked over a 1 loss Notre Dame and probably a 1-loss Washington State but that’s it.

Bama only got in last year because Ohio State lost twice and then beat Wisconsin in the Big 10 title game. Clemson, Georgia and Oklahoma all had 1 loss and got in before them and Wisconsin was the 5th. If Wisconsin beat OSU, Bama would have been out since Wisconsin was ranked 4th by the committee before the conference title game.

This isn’t last year. Voters have viewed BAMA on a different level all season, and one loss won’t kick them behind either the Big10 or Big XII champs, must less both. If anything, sneaking into the playoffs and winning it all last year only bolsters their case.

Yeah, if Georgia pulled it off (they won't), I have a feeling Michigan would get squeezed out. They'd justify it by pointing to a comparatively meh victory over Northwestern in the league title game.
