I'm not saying people are wrong all the time, but I'm sort of tired of always blaming the umps.

Nobody's blaming the umps like they're THE reason for this; it's just an annoying contributing factor to a team that's struggling.

this isn't a bears game when they're up 20 and still almost certain to lose - the cubs are still the favorites to win the division. but its just miserable

Yeah, I understand. But literally every thread, every one, has at least 15 posts each game about the strike zone or something else.

Maybe not literally. I haven't checked. I don't know. I think I'm just bored with all the excuses and frustrated that we suck now.

I truly hope I’m wrong. But this does feel like it’s done. Both the game and the division.

Please prove me wrong, Cubs.

My expectations are lowered to the point that I just want them to hold onto the division....and that's about it. Yeah, I know baseball is baseball, but I have no idea how this team as it stands right now would manage to get through to the end of the postseason. They're just too beaten up, and there's no relief coming.

We all want them to hold on. But you don't think they are at this point, right?

I have no idea. This team has repeatedly looked like garbage for a week or two and then suddenly kicks ass for a week or two. It'll come down to timing, unless they're finally just too beaten up and have too many guys just flailing away to finally swing back into the black like they've managed to do before.

Umps are bad and should be shamed given any opportunity. The HP ump completely affected KBs AB last inning. Of course they aren’t the main reason for what’s going on but they are playing a role at times.

Is it a bad time to let people know that Matt Adams just hit a go ahead homer in the 8th

I don't even know who the horsefeathers he plays for. And as long as we have the second Wild Card locked up at worst, I don't think I really care.

Because umps suck. This guy's zone has been trash for both teams, not just the Cubs, so, again, nobody is saying that he's only screwing the Cubs. It's just frustrating to put up with. Like it would have been great if Wilson had struck out Yelich like he actually pitched instead of what the ump called.

Our hitters suck any way. He affected an at-bat that probably would have ended with an out because we suck.

OK. No more venting.

I do think we are too beaten up, too tired and too many guys slumping to hold onto this thing. For some reason, the VBs are not any of those.

They’ve played like a sub .500 team for a full third of the season now, they are exhausted and the Brewers seem to have our number. Doesn’t feel like we are going to pull this off at this point but I’ll happily take all the crap in the world when they prove me wrong

i mean this quite sincerely: brandon kintzler is the worst relief pitcher in the least amount of time i've ever seen on the cubs

he's just horrid

It’s hard to believe, but there’s a possibility the Cubs go from having the best record in the National League for most of the year to out of the playoffs.

I think whoever said here last week that the Brewers seem to have the cheat codes for our offense is right. I know our offense struggles a lot on its own, but we can't score dick against them almost ever no matter who is starting or who comes out of the bullpen. It's rather weird.
