What does a bump in velocity tell us though? that he's suddenly throwing harder because he's on the Cubs or that hickey helped him adjust something that has given his velocity a big bump/more spin and movement?

estes had a bWAR of -1.3 in 2003 while chatwood has a current bWAR of 0.3.

that losing streak was with the mets. both baseball reference and fangraphs have him with a positive war in 1994 (1.1) and positive/negative war in 1995 (0.2 and -0.2, respectively). i remember watching him pitch for the cubs. he wasn't anything special but he wasn't a black hole of suckage like estes and chatwood.

Brian Matuz, Tseng and Farrell are all high for me because they were bad when we were trying/actually good. A good part of the last 20+ years we were just inept so I can’t blame people bad at their jobs for giving us a bad pitcher.

Ruben Quevedo and Amaury Telemaco were both less than stellar.
