Weiters reaction is awesome. He doesn't even hesitate going to the dugout. :D

if you look closely you can actually pinpoint the exact moment his heart breaks in two

I've been cowardly waiting for Bote to not kill the ball for a game to express a similar sentiment. He can have all the exit velocity he wants, I'm not going to feel one bit upset about any starts that Russell, Baez, Happ, or Zobrist get over him. They're better. Doesn't mean he's not potentially useful in a deluxe LaStella sorta way, but the league is going to adjust back and he's very likely to be the guy he's been in MiLB even post-swing adjustment, which is not a first division starter.

f off, he's prime Evan Longoria until further notice

Bote isn't going anywhere. But I can definitely see one or two of Addy, Almora, and Happ being shipped out for pitching.

The Cubs not only didn’t deal Bote — who has a .329/.418/.539 slash line through 76 at-bats in 34 games — at the trade deadline, they decided weeks ago, he wasn’t going back to the minors. The front office thought they needed him. They weren’t wrong.

Bote isn’t going anywhere, but he won’t be in an everyday starting role when Bryant comes back. He will get some starts at second base, but he’s going to have to be ready for pinch-hit opportunities like he had Sunday.

This is what I'm expecting. I think we sign Bryce or Manny, deal one of those three (likely Happ if Harper. Russell if Machado) for pitching, and Bote takes Seal Boy's roster spot, but gets a lot more playing time because he can actually field a position.

One more quote...

Maddon, though, envisions Bote possibly remaining in the mix, at least in September, saying Bryant enjoys playing the outfield.

This is the correct answer.

I've been on the Bote bandwagon since the beginning. People who follow the minors really closely noticed him and we talked about him last year. Check the minor league threads. I considered using him as a trade chip earlier in the season but quickly abandoned that idea a long time ago. He's legit and we clearly need him.

I don't think he takes La Stella's spot on the team next year. Tommy is still our best PH option and the team loves his character and how good a teammate he is. It's more likely Bote takes one of the spots occupied by Happ, Almora and/or Russell right now. We're definitely moving someone this offseason. I predict Javy takes over the SS position either starting next year or in two years. We're not keeping Russell long-term.
