6 DRS in just 169 innings at third base. I know Maddon loves having Russell and Baez up the middle, and for good reason, but Bote has looked so good defensively, I really don't think we're losing much there with Bote starting over Russell. Hopefully he's still an above average hitter by October because that could be a DEEP lineup in the playoffs.

Is that with Bote playing SS? Or is it Baez replacing Russell at SS with Bote at 3rd?

I mean Bote at 3B. By "there" I meant the defense in general doesn't suffer much when Russell sits and it's a Bote, Javy, and Zobrist alignment

I'd agree. Or even Happ at 2nd in place of Zo.

Bote played significantly more 2B than 3B in the minors. why not go Bryant, Baez, Bote at 3B, SS, 2B respectively?

Who is Bryant?

Can he be a backup or emergency catcher? Probably too late to convert him.

since the grand slam he has a .232 OPS

We all knew the league was going to adjust to him and that a slump was coming. I'm still really high on Bote and think he'll adjust back. He is a little too agressive in the batter's box right now.

David Bote is the kind of player the Cardinals would have called up in 2004/2005/2006. Relative unknown who gets called up to fill in for a major part of the lineup with 0 expectations, then proceeds to do nothing but hit timely home runs.

That pitch was up and in, not lower in the zone. Is he adjusting to everyone trying to stay away from the bottom of the zone?

The one Thursday was a curve ball up.
