I think NESN and YES each have another team or two to help fill out their programming. I know most of the Chicago ones are taken, but maybe we see them try and get rights to the Sky? Or some of the college teams around here (that obviously wouldn't help right now).

I thought Sinclair had rights to some smaller level D1 schools and Marquee was going to be able show those when this all originally was announced.

Now that I have it I’m looking at the programming and it’s rough. Right now there’s a 3 hour gambling show on that’s showcasing people who won big on slot machines across the country. Then there’s Cubs YouTube videos and a Ryan Dempster talk show. What’s even more crazy to me is that there isn’t even a pre/postgame show scheduled for tomorrow’s game (which is on Fox). What’s the point of having an all Cubs network if you don’t have pre and postgame shows for every game? Especially when they are struggling for new content.

Sounds pretty much like a regional fox spots channel. From the gambling filler and all. Being in Wisconsin Fox Sports Wisconsin doesn’t do any pre or post show on days the Brewers have a National game, maybe it’s some sort of weird deal they can’t?

I dont know, I'm just basing it off my experience with NBCSN. I'm pretty sure they had pre and post game shows for every Cubs game even if it was on WGN or national. Or at least they did at one point as I remember finding it odd that they were doing that. I guess I can accept that Marquee is just a bare bones network that shows Cubs games and a few other things. I realize it costs money like SSR said to produce shows but you'd think if the demand for these shows was high enough they could recoup in advertising costs.

I remember specifically they showed a Dayton mens basketball game the week that Marquee first aired so yeah they should be doing that.

Producing things costs money.

They just just air a single wideview camera angle of Wrigley from CF 24/7. That's it, that's the content.

Can Ryan Dempster be there making faces?

He'll do his show from second base so you won't be able to make out faces or hear anything.

So according to Jon Greenberg in The Athletic, Len and JD are required to wear suits now because the powers that be want Marquee to be “national broadcast quality.” It was almost 100 degrees today.

I noticed they took their coats off on opening day in the first inning. Thats kinda brutal.

I know this isn’t referring to Marquee but another reminder of how evil the owner of our new TV station is:

When the baseball season gets shut down in a few days these commercials will seem even more ridiculous to everyone but the dumb horsefeathers rubes

Apparently this horsefeathering Marquee Network doesn’t have a deal with Dish. I keep getting stuck with the opposing team’s broadcast.

Dish Network?

I thought they pretty much abandoned sports

They most certainly did.

I can’t remember which thread we were talking about Marquee making ridiculous errors but here is another one:

Let’s count how many errors this graphic has:

1. Obviously Strop’s name is misspelled

2. Jason Hammel never made a relief appearance for the Cubs.

3. At the very least Lee Smith and Bruce Sutter qualify for this list so obviously this list doesn’t capture all of Cubs history.

WTF Marquee? Put some effort into your jobs

Edit: Oh and I guess Sean Marshall qualifies for this list too which is funny because he was in the studio while this graphic aired

it was funny the other day when they posted up desipio's sarcastic tweet about being excited for the harry caray documentary as though it were genuine and not sarcastic

They most certainly did.

I am a long time Dish subscriber and I finally gave up hope that they would carry any regional sports networks. It will be really interesting to see what happens whenever their current ESPN deal expires. Will they attempt to maintain some level of mainstream sports programming, or double down on their refusal to pay for sports?

Either way, I'll be cancelling soon, as soon as I get through a few shows on my DVR backlog. Xfinity is cheaper (bundled with internet) and has Marquee, so it's a no-brainer.

We suspended our YoutubeTV account for 2 months, and started up Hulu Live. And good lord I hate it. Was there any usability research done on that thing at all?

Will definitely be switching back when the season ends.

There has to be a better streaming service than YouTubeTV. It’s fine I guess but the guide and channel switching delays are making me miss cable or DirectTV.

The guide is so much worse on Hulu Live. Channel switching delays are just a function of streaming though.

Hate that I can't channel surf on Hulu Live.

The sad part is that the Hulu Live interface just changed early this week and it is so, so much better than the old one. I'm not saying the new one is good, but it's a sight for sore eyes after struggling through the old one for so long.

Yeah we did see it before and after the update, but it's at best a slight improvement to me. It needed an overhaul and this wasn't it.

Hulu sucks balls with the live TV. I sure as horsefeathers ain’t switching there for horsefeathering Sinclair. The streams I’ve found on reddit are always solid enough.

Agreed 100%, tried the free trial for Hulu live, it sucks ass. Sticking with YouTube TV for now. Using my in laws Directv credentials for the Marquee app on a firestick. Seems to be ok this way so far. Just sucks I can't DVR the games
