So are the Cubs saving their strength for good teams? Because they've played garbage teams all season and look like wet farts

If we are going to make conclusions on the 14 games then they really haven’t played garbage teams. Throw out the Reds because it was one game and it’s the Reds and 3 of the 4 teams they’ve played are .500 or better and combined the record of those 4 teams is over .500. So if you want to make sweeping judgements of n the Cubs so far you’d also have to admit they’ve played good teams using that sample.

But yes, we’ve obviously played like ass.

I’m trying to be patient but geez how much longer can we put a guy out there with a K rate of 49%?

It’s a small sample size but it’s not like Happ didn’t have major K issues last year too

In real fun with SSS he only had 2 Ks in his last 14 PAs going in to today. But yeah the Ks are going to be a problem. When Rizzo gets back (moving Zobrist to OF more) I think Happ is going to be the guy to see the most playing time drop off. It really should become a Almora/Heyward/Schwarber quasi platoon with Zobrist playing LF/RF depending on the combo of the other 3 playing on a given day.

Think about how much we have invested in this rotation, and how truly horsefeathers we are if they dont work out

Lol. They’re going to work unless you think any of them have an injury.

like half the posts on nsbb are about the volatile nature of pitchers, but somehow it doesn't apply to the cubs.

It certainly applies but all these guys have a huge history of performance that I’m going to rely on more than 2-3 starts in to a season. Especially when most of the underlying things they’re doing (like velo) seem to be mostly in line with their career. It’s not like last year when Jake/Hendricks were throwing 3+ MPH less and we had legit things to worry about that something might be wrong.

If you think something is wrong, what do you think is actually wrong with any of the SP other than having some bad starts (which every one of them is going to have and will have more of as the year goes on)?

I know normally someone in Bosio's position would never come back...but he *is* in Detroit. So maybe a giant apology, a giant muffin basket, and a few hummers could get him back.

I know (think) this is a joke but he had to leave the Tigers this week for a “health issue” so hopefully he’s okay. Also blaming pitching/hitting coaches for performance 14 games in might be the dumbest thing of all in making any sweeping statements early on in a year.

It was really smart, actually.
