My wife and I are going to be in Chicago this weekend. We're getting in obscenely early Friday morning.

I had planned on going to the Saturday game, but given how the weather looks, im thinking my best option is just to shoot for the Friday game and then adjust if it rains out, i.e., go to Friday, if it's a rainout, go to saturday, if it's a rainout, go to sunday.

Anyway, we can check into our airbnb until Friday afternoon. What are my best options for putting the car somewhere and getting to Wrigley in time for the game Friday? Drive as close as we can get and find a parking spot in Wrigley? Park near our airbnb and uber back and forth? Park somewhere and public transit our asses to wrigley?

Logan Square

Hey hi I live there

I would park near your airbnb and and uber. Lots of places to park for free in Logan and it's about a 20 minute ride to the park

I'd check a parking app like SpotHero or ParkWhiz to see if you can get something that's a combination of inexpensive, secure, and convenient for the weekend. Either way, depending on how far west you are in Logan Square, an uber won't be too bad.

Parking is pretty decent around Logan Square, but going from there to and from the field is a huge pain. I used to live in Logan while dating my future wife who was in Wrigleyville. Going west to east in Chicago is the worst.

Your best option is probably uber. That or do intermediate activities off the red or brown line. For example take the blue line downtown in the morning, do whatever touristy stuff you're into, and then grab the red line to the game.

how big of a [expletive] is it ubering FROM wrigley after a game?

I always walk a few blocks away before calling one, but I've not had any trouble.

If it really bugs you, you could always take the Red Line a few stops north and Uber from there, but you're going to wait at the Addison station anyway. I usually end up walking several blocks west, weather pending.

For the last decade I've been driving about a half-mile north of Wrigley and parking for free on the streets. Once you get past the 7-11 at the Clark/Southport intersection, the 'no parking' signs disappear.

But since you'll be there in the freezing effing cold, that walk might not seem so enticing.

You can park for day games on the street until like 6 in most places. I usually do this about a 1/2 mile from Wrigley, I just find a side street off Addison. It does look fairly warm(68) on Friday with rain expected.

Not nearly as bad as packing into the horsefeathering red line. I normally walk 3 blocks down to Sheffield's for a beer and wait out the traffic. Takes 30 minutes for it to clear.

This is absolutely the correct way to go.

Sheffields has become my default post game walk. Well, it became that like 20 years ago and still is.

We usually take our time getting out of the park, and the red line has never been too bad for me, except for the WS. That was just a wall of people that didn't move.

I love it there, but it's too close to the park/postgame traffic for this convo

Also shout-out to Joe's on Broadway, which was my pre- and post-game spot through the 2016 playoffs. Never had a line and never charged cover

Wow, never been there. Food and beer list looks great. Is it quicker to jump on the red line at Belmont to head downtown after leaving Sheffield's?

Thinking of taking the wife and staying downtown for a Sunday game sometime in June/July then staying downtown.

Food is meh, beer is amazing.

Yeah, you're closer to Belmont or I think the Wellington brown line from there
