I'm just constantly shouting "no" at my tv these days watching umpires

The addition of the strike zone to broadcasts made us all realize how bad umpires really are. I found myself a lot more critical of umpires lately and that has to play a big part of it.

2 swings, 3 outs.

You can't really be upset about stuff like that when you're facing pitchers the caliber of Oliver Drake.

I don't know about that. The HD broadcast and better camera angles helped a lot and made it easier to conceptualize the strike zone. The addition of a strike zone graphic helped, but I can determine whether a pitch was a strike or a ball without it the majority of the time.

I think we've always known umpires were shitty... I've met older baseball fans that told me stories about petty umpires who held grudges against certain pitchers and players. I remember when I was little my older brother and his friends would tell me stories about how Maddux and Glavine would take advantage of umpires and kept getting strike calls on pitches clearly off the plate.

That's my biggest complaint with baseball -- the lack of an automated strike zone. horsefeathers all this noise about speeding up the game and those stupid ideas to end the game earlier if it goes into extra innings.

How in the name of hell does he break his bat and not dump it in into shallow left like every time that sort of contact is ever made

I thought that was dropping for sure, how did that ball carry so far??? We hit rockets and they only go to the warning track and then our broken bat balls fall only 20 feet short of the track.
