I’m always amazed when experienced, professional journalist make definitive statements or overreact to a good/great stretch of baseball from a team that wasn’t expected to perform at those levels. Especially when peripherals indicate their record is better than it should be.

 

I believe it was Kurkjian that said “the Mariners are absolutely going to the playoffs” a few weeks back. Then the ESPN Sunday Night crew said no NL team stood a chance to beat Boston, New York, Houston or Seattle in a World Series.
