so much for the brewers brutal post asb schedule

1. They’re only 6-4 so far.

2. Tonight’s game isn’t over and they could still lose.

3. They still have three more against the Dodgers.

4. Then they get 3 against Colorado.

5. That means even if they win tonight, they could still go 7-10 to start the second half (as long as we’re wildly overreacting here).

5. After a short break against San Diego, they have three in Atlanta and two against us.

6. You complain way too much and don’t deserve the awesomeness we’ve gotten from the Cubs the last 3 1/2 years.

1. They’re only 6-4 so far. That's a pretty good start

2. Tonight’s game isn’t over and they could still lose. But they could also win

3. They still have three more against the Dodgers. Yep, they do.

4. Then they get 3 against Colorado. At Miller, where the Brewers are pretty good

5. That means even if they win tonight, they could still go 7-10 to start the second half (as long as we’re wildly overreacting here). Don't know statement was an overreaction other than 17 mimmicking what several posters said about the Brewers schedule coming out of the ASB

5. After a short break against San Diego, they have three in Atlanta and two against us. They're back to playing decent ball after the losing streak going into the ASB

6. You complain way too much and don’t deserve the awesomeness we’ve gotten from the Cubs the last 3 1/2 years. Don't know that he complains too much, don't really know him/her, other than he/she posts a lot here

That's funny!

He’s got a giant, rock hard doom boner that he should probably go see a doctor about because it’s lasted well longer than 4 hours.

The Brewers have done very well this year. It’s increasingly likely that they’ll be sticking around all year long. They’re a solid team. But they’re not even guaranteed of a winning record yet during their tough stretch to start the second half. If they end up 10-7 or better, then come by and say “so much for their tough post-ASB schedule.”

On June 25, he said there was real collapse potential now with the Cubs. Since then, they're 19-10, which is the second best record in the NL. They've picked up 3.5 games on the Brewers (giving them a win tonight) and 6 on the Cards.

The broader point is that sometimes, and bear with me here because this might sound crazy, is that the results don't always go like you think they will. Sometimes, teams overperform against good teams and sometimes they underperform against bad teams.

So sure, the Brewers appear to be playing well over this 11 game run. But they also had a 2-9 stretch (I know there's overlap with the LA series) where they lost 2 of 3 in Miami, were swept in a 5 game set by Pittsburgh and lost 2 of 3 to LA. So in that Mia-Pit-LA stretch, realistically, you'd expect they'd at least win the first two series and the third could go either way, which would mean either 6-5 (losing the LA series) oar 7-4 (winning the LA series).

okay but a comment about being annoyed that the brewers are doing well during the hardest part of their remaining schedule should not have gotten that kind of reaction, what the horsefeathers

Because they're not actually done with the hardest part of their remaining schedule?

Because they can still finish under .500 against said hard part of the schedule?

It's like calling "Ballgame" when the Cubs are down 4-0 in the 5th inning (not saying that you specifically do this, just using it as an example). Sure, it doesn't look great, but maybe wait for the game to play out a bit more before you declare it over.

Playing a bit of devil's advocate: What if the VBs were 4-6 out of the ASB and the Dodgers were up 5-1 last night,. Would it be okay for a poster to play the "I told you so, the VBs are frauds. Look at how they fare against a tough schedule"?? And then that poster wouldn't be criticized for jumping the gun after only 10 games....because they could still end up with a winning record over that stretch?? Because that happens all the time. People have been waiting for the VBs to crash for 4 months. And they really haven't...yet. So if there's ever a post giving them due, or pointing out the flaws in other posters' comments of the VB's certain demise, then they're called haters, doomboners, etc. Like pointing out things about the VBs is somehow an attack against the Cubs or that poster is somehow a lesser Cubs fan.

It would be more okay than the other way around because of the games before it. Let’s turn their 6-4 and beating the Dodgers into 4-6 and losing to the Dodgers. That would mean instead of being 7-11 in their last 18 and leading the Dodgers, they’d be 5-13 and heading for 5-14. Obviously it doesn’t mean disaster (see the Cubs 5-15 stretch in 2016 and the Dodgers 1-15 stretch last year) but it’s more of an extended trend. Instead, we’re overreacting to 7 games against the Nats and Giants (since they lost 2 of 3 to LA coming out of the break).

Who's over-reacting? Really. Prior to ASB, bunch of folks suggested the Brewers were gonna continue to crash and burn due to their brutal schedule coming out of the Break. So far they haven't. Give credit where credit is due. Sure, they can slide in the next 5-10. But they've done well (so far) in what many would say is the toughest stretch of their schedule.

Anyway, screw the VBs. If the Cubs continue to play like they've played most of the season (or better, which is more realistic than the VBs keeping their pace), the Cubs will win the division going away. I think the domination of 2016 has spoiled a lot a fans into thinking the Cubs should be a 100+ win team each year. It's not that they're haters. Just wishing to team would be more consistent and play up to their abilities more often. FWIW.

Pirates land Archer in exchange for Tyler Glasnow and Austin Meadows. Archer has 3 years left. Rays got a good deal I think.

Phillies get Wilson Ramos for PTBNL.

Dodgers get Brian Dozier for Logan Forsythe, pitcher Devin Smeltzer and outfielder Luke Raley,

I've learned in the past that even when things don't seem like it during certain moments of a long season, Duker is always right by the end of it. Until Duker is wrong, I am going to ride with him.

Nats are up 19-0 in the 6th inning. Every starter has at least one hit and 8 of the 9 (pitcher included) have at least 2 hits.

25-1. Cherry on top for Mets fans today. Couldn’t happen to a better group of assholes.
