Hell yeah

The speculation is he's headed to NY.

Sucks to suck Brewers.

I'm really surprised that the reaction of Brewers fans I've seen is a collective 'meh'. I didn't realize they hated the Hader trade so much they turned on the man that turned their tiny market club into a consistently good team.

I mean they had like a 3 game division lead when they traded him. It was a true kick in the teeth for fans. I would have been horsefeathering livid (ignoring the fact he's a shitty human).

I thought the trade made sense for them, though that might be a controversial viewpoint. Even if it didn't make sense, one move doesn't erase everything he built over the last several years. I also don't think not having Hader was the reason the Brewers didn't make the playoffs (at least him alone), and most people thought the Brewers got an above-average return for him.

I don't think it makes much sense for a division leader to trade their All-Star Closer in the middle of the season. If they had done that before the season, I think they would be more approving. And I think they got a good return also. The timing would just be very hard to swallow from a fan's perspective.

Yeah, and people seem to forget that Hader was hot garbage for a good stretch prior to being traded, in addition to being awful for a while following. So I certainly don't think the Brewers' playoff chances were harmed by the trade.

But still, it sent an awful message to the team and fans, despite it being a sensible move.

The Brewers are in a tight spot this winter, so it is an especially painful time for Stearns to bail.

If they pick up the options on Wong and Boxberger they'd already be back at last year's payroll. Interestingly, about 2/3's of that payroll is those aforementioned club options and guys in arbitration. So they can turn the roster over pretty aggressively if they'd prefer, but even still there's not a lot of easy decisions. The guys set to make substantial money are either their building blocks (Burnes, Woodruff, Adams) or quality players in that awkward zone of too good to cut but not so good as they'll have much surplus value (Wong and Hunter Renfroe). Like it's going to take a lot of machinations just to keep the team where it was last year, much less make up the ground between them and the Cardinals.

They do have a pretty good crew of kids at AAA ready to help, but in one of those winters with no margin for error where you really need to nail it losing the smartest person in the org is gonna hurt. I don't think they completely fall off next year, but I wouldn't be surprised if when all is said and done the Cubs project as a better team on paper heading into ST. And with Stearns and Hader gone I'm going to be much less worried about them way over performing expectations like 17/18/19.

What a joke, horsefeathers the Brewers and the state if they give them a single cent.

Seems like a misleading headline. They aren't giving the Brewers money. They are giving the district money to improve the statement and the Brewers renew their lease. I mean, I don't want brewers fans to have nice things, but it's not like this is going to payroll.

I don’t care where it’s going, sports teams shouldn’t get tax payer money for any reasons. And the give us money and we’ll renew the lease or else we’ll leave is such a shallow threat. They aren’t moving. If the stadium needs repair or improvements use your own horsefeathering money, Attanasio.

I generally agree, but if the stadium belongs to the state, they (the landlord) should take care of it. I guess I just hate slumlords more than I hate taxpayer money going to fund properties that generate revenue. I know the Brewers' rent is a lot less than the money being invested, but their impact on the economy is pretty strong.

If the stadium is that much of a positive impact and generating revenue then why does the Gov/district that owns the stadium have no money to improve it/keep it up and essentially needs a bail out? Investing in sports stadiums is often a large waste of and costly expense of tax payer dollars that loses states/cities/counties money.

If the Brewers want to leave let the leave if they’re pissy about not getting handouts for their stadium. People will still spend their disposable income on other things that spur the economy. It’s not like the only option is spend money going to Brewer games or sit at home and bury your money under your mattress, there’s alternatives to spend that puts money in the economy.

For those who don't want to click the link, he asked for $10.75M and they wanted to pay him $10.01M. The Brewers won the case.

Brewers are already down two starters to shoulder injuries this spring. Jason Alexander is pretty whatever, just depth, but Aaron Ashby was easily the most exciting of their young pitchers. This is like if we were already down Sampson and Wesneski.

It's hard to consider the loss of Alexander an actual loss. If he's pitching regularly, things have already gone sideways for the Brewers.

Seems like as good of a place as any to put this but the Pirates have an outfielder named Canaan Smith-Njigba, who is the older brother of the OSU WR. No idea if he's supposed to be any good.

About the Hader trade. Most milwaukee fans knew he was going to get traded but not until the off season.  What most milwaukee fans were upset about about 1. They were in first place at the time. 2. Where they traded to to a fellow nl team trying to get a playoff spot. 3. What they got for him was not enough. One of the players they got they sent him down to AAA Nashville when he didn't have any options left.  Someone in the front office didn't do there homework. But there was one thing that did workout well , one of the players (can't remember his name) was apart of that 3 team trade with Atlanta and Oakland. Oakland got the brewers player and the milwaukee got all star catcher William contrares with 5 year left and 2 minor league pitchers. Many say milwaukee stold the trade. What took the milwaukee front office by surprise was the negative reaction from the players, fans and media.  Many think the reason they trade Hader at the deadline is they didn't think milwaukee didn't have a chance in the playoffs. The 2022 were a very boring team they played a lot of low scoring games. If they got down by more than 2 runs fans knew they weren't coming back. They either scored 2 or 3 runs a game or 15.  They left way to many men on base and left the bases loaded alot. It was either home run or strikeout and the fans didn't like it. The 2023 team they like,  the average age this team is almost 5 years younger than in 22. They are striking out less, less homeruns, alot more speed and are more gap hitter. The fans love all the rookies to bad that Mitchell got hurt this week and is most likely out fot the season but joey weiner is a stud outfield but not hitting yet, brice trurbg is a lights out at 2nd and had come up with big hits. Perkins they called up to replace Mitchell gitbhusvhirst mlb hit Saturday night, and once sal frelick comes off the minor league I l he will most likely call hi up he is the the #2 prospect m the #1 brewers and all of mlb is Jacksin curious at double a should be here next year is is only 19 year old and thr youngest player In double A

I blinked and suddenly the Pirates are 16-7

I’ll preface this by saying that going 16-7 against any collection of MLB teams is legit impressive given the expectations for the Pirates this year, but the schedule has been pretty light

CIN, BOS, CWS, HOU, STL, COL, CIN

Houston and St Louis are the 2 legit teams they played and are 3-4 against them, 13-3 against everyone else.

The other thing about the Pirates is it's not the uber talented young guys doing the damage, it's Conor Joe and Jack Suwinski and 36 year old Andrew McCutchen.

If it were O'Neil Cruz, Mitch Keller, and Roansy Contreras leading the charge I'd be a lot more worried.

I am seriously annoyed that the Brewers have yet again turned chicken horsefeathers to chicken salad with a catcher. The heist of William Contreras really sticks in my craw, Seeing him and his brother as the best defensive catchers in the game so far - like, horsefeathers off.

This is a strong sign that not only are catching defensive metrics definitionally incomplete, but looking at them 3 weeks into the season is basically a random number generator.
