Corbin Burnes' struggles right now are super interesting. I'm generally an xFIP guy, and by xFIP he's actually been pretty good. However, 58% of his fly balls have left the yard so far. That's insanity. John Lackey's last year when we all hated him was 18%. Like there's clearly bad luck at play here, but even over a small sample I didn't think 58% could happen. Like it can't *just* be bad luck at this point. Is he tipping pitches?

He’s giving up horsefeathering bombs and a ton of hard contact, he might just suck as a starter and doesn’t have the pitch mix for it and should move back to being a 2 pitch relief pitcher.

Joey Votto popped up to the first baseman for the first time in his Major League career tonight. 13 years and 7,000-ish at bats. That’s bizarre.

I don't think bizarre is strong enough in this context.

We need a better adjective lol. It's horsefeathering incredible.

We are back to having the best odds to win the division and make playoffs on fangraphs

Brewers are 12-7 with a -2 run differential. That seems sustainable

They have pixie dust/devil magic going on. I expect it to continue as long as Yelich & Cain are in Brewers uniforms.

Outside of Hader, their pitching staff is horrible.

That's where the pixie dust comes in. They went pretty far with that bad pitching staff last year.

Cedeno, Gonzalez, Knebel, Miley and Soria were all on that pitching staff last year when they made their big run to win the division at the end. They and maybe Peralta too are either hurt or gone now.

It’s all downhill for Joey V’s career from here on out. Clearly he’s declining.

they traded for him last year. He also just signed with the Yankees a couple of weeks ago but was recently released.

Is Yelich being fed signs at Miller or something? His H/R splits are astonishing.

13 HR, 1.811 OPS at home

1 HR, .766 on road

Indeed, that's such a chasm that it should certainly raise suspicions. That K% is certainly intriguing.
