Floyd with a hand/wrist injury and Shaheen with an ankle injury. Can't afford to lose Floyd for any length of time.

Is the Bears' 2019 and 2020 first round picks too much to give up for Mack if that got a trade done?

Floyd had surgery to repair fractured right hand, might be able to play week 1.

I wonder if the Bears will be able to hide Wims on the practice squad for a season while White plays out the last year of his contract. I do like what Nagy is doing with this offense. It looks like Miller will be an immediate impact, and we've yet to see him line up in the slot with the actual starting receivers. I'm not real big on Gabriel, YET, but having Robinson, Miller, Burton and Cohen all on the field for the same play could create a lot of defensive nightmares, assuming the OLine can create some time for plays to develop.

I think we (Bears fans) are underestimating Allen Robinson. Obviously, he missed all of last year. But he also had a down year the year before (it's Bortles' fault). But he did put up top 5 WR numbers at age 22, and is still only 25. He could be everything Brandon Marshall was when he was a Bear, except much younger and not a lockerroom nightmare.

This offense is made to create mismatches. Once they get their horsefeathers together, there will 100% of the time be a mismatch with either Burton or Cohen. Then you still have Gabriel who can outrun anybody. Miller who's an elite route runner with great hands. And when all else fails, Robinson can win any 1-on-1 matchup.

Isn't historically this the preseason week where starters play the most?

Yeah this is really odd especially with a new coaching staff and a lot of young/new players particularly on offense. The offense looked a bit disjointed last week after not playing on HOF game and only playing a series in the second game.

I dunno it’s weird but ultimately not a huge deal

Love. F the preseason. No need to risk injury to someone super important. They've practiced. They've scrimmaged teams. They played a couple preseason games. Playing a half game 2 weeks before the season isn't going to get them any readier to the point that it's worth risking a long-term injury ala Meredith last year.

Agreed. I wonder if they would've done this before the Floyd and Shaheen things happened. Either way, other than being bummed about having far less entertainment tomorrow afternoon, I'm good with it.

Feel bad for my brother, though. He's going with his wife and kids.

There are some spectacularly bad takes on this decision out there. Apparently 2 quarters of preseason football is the difference between a good and bad season.

When they lose to the Packers week 1 (as they were going to anyway) all these dopes will be patting themselves on the back too.

Isn't KC's defense pretty familiar with Nagy's playbook? In a meaningless game, why risk the defense getting good reads and destroying any confidence they created in practice all week? I kind of like seeing the battles for the few openings that remain during preseason, so I'm good with the starters sitting out.

why is it a good decision by default

Where did I say it was a good decision by default?

Not that preseason means anything but ha that we won the 3rd preseason game without playing our starters against a team playing theirs into the 3rd quarter

Wasn't it technically their 4th game if you count the HoF game, or am I way off (probably way off)

But it’s not weird to rest your starters when they’ve already had three games. People are overreacting to this like Nagy broke some sacred football tradition

Usually your starters play a series in the 1st game, most of a half in the 2nd game, into the 3rd quarter in the 3rd game, and sit the 4th.

The Bears sat starters the first game, played a series the 2nd game, played most of the half the 3rd game and are sitting them the 4th and 5th games.

I don't really mind the decision that much but don't pretend like the starters are getting the same amount of work

Don't think Pace has the balls to go all out for Mack. No 2nd next year. So, does he really want to be without a top 75 pick next year and pay a guy close (or more than) 20Mil/year? Plus, there could be other picks/players going to Oakland.
