Apparently the team doesn't really like him

They cited his connection with the players or something like that.

Why?

I hear that Girardi works better with vets rather than young players, so that could be part of it.

You'd think that would make him a good fit for the Nats. I don't want to see the Nats with competent managing.

Weird....

New York Yankees third baseman Todd Frazier dedicated the team's Game 5 ALDS win over the Cleveland Indians on Wednesday to manager Joe Girardi.

Girardi came under fire for a non-challenge in Game 2 of the series that swung the momentum in Cleveland's favor, but Frazier said he and the other players rallied around their manager, according to ESPN.com: "This one is for Joe. He got a lot of criticism after that second game, and we talked a lot, me and him. I couldn't be happier for him. I couldn't be happier for him."

Of course that's 1 player and it sort of implies other people shared the same sentiment as Frazier.

I don't get the "what are the yankees thinking" complaints about firing Girardi. He had one of the dumbest excuses possible for an easily avoidable bad decision in the playoffs. He's an old school robot with no personality and he's been manager for 10 years. Nobody should manage a team for 10 years.

They'll hire Don Mattingly and it will be amazing.

Also, he's not really a good manager.

5 will get you 10 that Girardi is the next manager of the Cardinals.

The Cardinals would have to ditch Matheny and they don't seem willing to do that.

They will eventually, and Girardi may be willing to wait a little to take time off before his next job.

1 player who has been there like 2 months

but yeah, the report i heard explicitly cited that whole "team rallied around girardi and wanted to win for him" as being vastly overblown

i mean every team is essentially just waiting for the right time to search for a manager who fails in a different way than their current manager fails.

Joe's weird horsefeathers that he pulls is a good example of the fact that every coach is dumb in their own way. You just pay them until you're sick of their weakness and you bring in a guy with a different weakness.
