I went to the game where they would have clinched with a win in both 2015 and 2016. They lost both games. I really wanted to see the Cubs jumping around on the field like a bunch of delirious 10 year olds, but wasn't to be. I'm staying the hell away from this game, don't worry.

i went to the loss (iirc to pittsburgh?) in 2015 and had no idea they were coming back out to celebrate.

Actually the game I'm referring to is the day before. They would have clinched with a win at the Friday game (and had the tying run on 3rd with 1 out but couldn't score), but instead they lost and then that night the Giants lost, clinching the spot. The next day they had planned to celebrate win or lose but I don't think they told anyone beforehand.
