Derwood displays some concerns about how the off-season went: CRAZY HOT TAKES

Sulley proclaims Trubisky to be the next Aaron Rodgers, plus the running game is "elite": reasoned analysis.

Trubisky may not be the greatest QB ever, but the running game is clearly excellent. I mean, do you know who the bears are?

This whole thing just smacks of you trying to simulate human observations and concerns but failing miserably.

No one will accept you with salad.

Where are you projecting the Bears running game? Top 5 in the NFL?

I mean, you DO realize that Jordan Howard averaged the same ypc as Ezekiel Elliot, right?

At least base your capricious skepticism in fact.

At the risk of being annoying with this, I thought I'd post it one more time since the other times were 3 months ago and in the middle of the Bears game. But if anyone is interested, here is some good video on Gentry. He's #4 and basically every time he shows up it's a 40 yard TD catch.

I re-watched it today and it was fun. Particularly after seeing insta post that brought back memories of the Cutty/Olsen connection. You figure Shaheen would be the logical choice to play the role of nouveau G-Reg, but maybe Gentry gets the head start due to NFL readiness and the bare WR cupboard.

Plus Shaheen is kind of an ogre, so Gentry might make the better wingman. I get the sense that Money Mitch might not exactly be KB on the bar scene.

Well, you've already given the impression that you find the idea of the bears having a top-tier running game crazy hot take worthy. So excuse me for being sarcastic.

They will be near the top of the league in ypc.

I'd say less crowing than fans who would rather just watch him than Mike Glennon.

Sulley might be crowning him though.

He's going to be very very good.

One revision to the Gentry stuff I posted a couple pages back. Nfldraftscout.com had his pro day 40 time as 4.58, but the article below and some other sources have it at 4.46, along with a 38 inch vertical. If that 4.46 is legit that is real fast for a 6'2 WR with jump ball skills.

you better turn out better than we got the whole 9 did with justin wilson on this

Before I remembered that that was someone's screen name, I read this sentence, like, 5 times thinking I was having a stroke.

I should probably have some awareness that I'm just on tilt after the Cubs graduated or traded all the interesting prospects. But I keep thinking what if someone told me that the Bears had drafted a 6'2 WR with 1300 yards and 14 TDs and a 4.46 in the second round? And that they've only got one receiver over 6 foot that's maybe worth a damn so the door is wide open. And that he's besties with the new QB and just caught a 50 yard bomb to save said QBs day?

All that is true except the second round part but PFF loves him, and I kind of trust them more than the standard GM. So I'm mostly trying to spread some good cheer after the Bears lost their #1 receiver, but also I don't see any reason Gentry can't be a top receiver in the league at some point.

He's coming around. I'm gonna have to wear that one though.

I guess we will be seeing more of Trubisky on Thursday. Mark Sanchez not playing could mean 2 very different things:

1) Mark Sanchez is getting cut

2) Mitch Trubisky is going to start the season 3rd on the depth chart

Or I guess it doesn't have to mean Mitch is 3rd, and they just want him to get more reps.

i don't really care about the whole where he's listed on the depth chart story

as for him playing this week

i get to have fun watching trubisky more before we have to watch glennon

but i don't love sending him out there with a 2nd and 3rd string o-line, even if he is facing 2nd and 3rd string pass rushers

the roughing play in the az game nearly gave me a heart attack when i saw the replay

I'd like to see Gentry and Davis get more looks with Trubisky on the field Thursday, because other than Kendall Wright in the slot, I'm currently sad about the receiver situation. Other than that, running game looks good, front seven looks outrageous, OLine looks rock solid and if they can get Glennon to avoid turning the ball over, a little Alex Smith ball control offense might make some of those teams we play in the first few weeks nervous about winning. We are probably a year away from being in the discussion, but it should be a fun year to watch this team develop.

I'm going to guess Sanchez gets cut. I think his value was to be a mentor to Trubisky, but it sounds like Loggains himself has taken on more of that role (which should be the case in the 1st place). The only scenario where Sanchez ever even sees the field for the Bears would be if Glennon gets hurt mid-game and you don't want to throw a non-ready Trubisky in the middle of a mess. But Trubisky appears ready to play at any given time, making Sanchez pretty pointless.

Sanchez also isn't very likely to get picked up so if something does happen to Glennon, you can always sign him as a backup at that point.

Doctors told Meredith on Tuesday that while the ACL in his left knee is torn and will require replacement, other damage is minimal and prognosis right now is for a full return in perhaps only eight months.

Meredith was injured at the end of the first quarter of Sunday’s victory at Tennessee when he caught a pass over the middle and was twisted to the turf by Titans safety Johnathan Cyprien. Initial fear was Meredith had suffered a torn ACL and perhaps other significant damage because of the way his lower leg was bent.

After swelling went down, doctors got a good look at Meredith’s knee and determined there is a minor tear in the MCL (medial collateral ligament). That alleviated fears that Meredith could be facing a total reconstruction of the knee and a rehabilitation that could last 12 months or longer.

Wow, that's a pretty good prognosis based on what it looked like.

I didn't think it looked that bad in all honesty. Everyone says how bad it looked, but it was clear to me that it wasn't Marcus Lattimore (Career ending) or Jaylon Smith (15-18 month injury). My only thought was maybe he broke the bone in his leg near his knee, which would be problematic also. But I was always pretty hopeful that it was just your typical ACL tear.

Man, bring back the orange uniforms. Were those the ones that Hairplugs MacGillicutty got all grumpy about?

I liked them, but I like the new alternates better. I almost wish they were our primaries, though I still like the regular ones too. I think I'm gonna buy a Trubisky alternate as soon as I see one for sale.

I don't remember Urlacher making a fuss about the orange ones, but who knows.

Yea the current alternates are way better than the orange ones.
