And Wade has indeed been bought out. Bulls save $8ish mil

I'm kinda shocked they saved that much.

Yeah he must just really of wanted out/wanted to go play with one of his buddies (Carmelo OKC, CPS HOU, or Lebron Cavs).

my least favorite bull ever

I didn't like him either but he's nowhere near my least favorite Bull. There were a lot of negatives but I was impressed at how he was able to come back from that fractured elbow quite a bit earlier than expected for the stretch run/playoffs.

If the Bulls would have kept Jimmy I might have actually liked him because one of the more important things he did was cement Jimmy in the circle of NBA elite. He was headed that way after the Olympics but being bros with Wade doesn't hurt either.

So the biggest "star" on the Bulls is Robin Lopez? Or Zach Levine? lol

Hopefully Lopez gets traded for a second round pick that GarPax will eventually sell for cash considerations.

i guess it's ok to occasionally post positive things in here.

lavine says his measurables are better right now than at his pre-draft workout.

The better news is LaVine’s measurements show he’s faster and a better leaper than he was before the 2014 draft, at least according to the numbers.

“This was my first pre-draft workout, right after the combine, so they had all my measurements here,” he said. “My three-quarter sprint is faster than what it was. My first 10-meter sprint is faster. My standing vertical is higher. My one-step vertical is higher off two feet. It’s been coming along really well. I was pretty surprised a couple times, like, ‘Oh wow, it’s higher than what it was.' As long as I can keep progressing at this rate, you know, I’m going to be back doing better than I was before.”

It's from the athletic so there's a paywall if you want the rest

I'm interested to see who develops out of this group honestly. I'd set the over/under at 25 myself. I'm curious who wins camp battles and I'm certainly hoping to see a trade at some point that acquires us an extra pick or two.

I figure Lopez gets moved once a team loses a big to injury. It'd be nice to see Mirotic develop into something worth trading for, although I'd say that's a long shot, on some levels.

PG Dunn, Grant

SG LaVine, Holiday

SF Valentine, Zipser

PF Mirotic, Markkonen

C Lopez, Felicio

With Portis being left out, knowing that he's extremely likely to be seeing 20+ MPG. At any rate, I think my true hope is just seeing LaVine develop into a 3, on a good team, and a couple of guys out of Dunn, Valentine, Markkonen, and Portis, show enough to be considered starter caliber players.

(quasi realistic) Best case scenario for the Bulls is:

-Markkanen shows signs of being a potential star

-Dunn and Valentine look like legit role players

-LaVine looks healthy by the end of the year and actually looks to have improved his game

-Hoiberg's offense actually works with more athletic players and better shooters

-Bulls get the #1 pick

-Propelled by one of the more heralded #1 picks in awhile and a potential complimentary star, the Bulls can use their cap space, projected to be one of the top 2-3 highest to lure someone like Cousins

-Gar is fired, lifting the black cloud over the org and at least beginning to turn around the outside perception of the org

Gar being fired means nothing if Paxson is still there, IMO. That would be a total lip service/PR move that wouldn't actually mean anything. But yeah, the rest of that sounds about right.

Yeah, both Gar and Paxson need to go and probably others in the Bulls FO as well. I don't even know how good their scouts are, or how many they employ. They definitely are lacking in the analytical department and are probably behind the majority of NBA teams there.

I'm really hoping when they finally decide to fire GarPax that they try to hire a young exec from either the Spurs and/or Thunder. I wonder if R. Westbrook and P. George both decide to leave OKC next offseason would S. Presti think about leaving as well?

Ballpark, how many teams are tanking this year?

7 or 8 maybe? Most of them are in the East too. I'm concerned about teams in the West that are clearly better than the Bulls, still losing more games just due to how good the West is.

I'd have to look at it again, but definitely Bulls, Hawks, Nets (not tanking per se, but they will suck) and maybe the Suns. The Pacers, Kings and Knicks will also be terrible, but I don't think they're trying to suck on purpose.

I think it's a good year to tank since many of those teams that have been tanking for awhile are halfway decent now (76ers and Lakers). This draft only seems to be about 3 or 4 players deep at the very top. My favorite player, and the one I want the Bulls to take if they get the chance, is M. Bagley III.

I don’t think it’s that high. From the start it’s the Bulls, Hawks and maybe Pacers. Then teams like Lakers, Kings and Nets don’t control their picks. A combo of Memphis, Dallas, New Orleans, Orlando, Philly, NY, and Phoenix will probably try and tank if they get to mid-season not doing well but all are kinda trying to win from the start.

The East is going to be so horsefeathering bad, it might only take 34-37 games to get the 8 seed and the 6/7 seeds might not even be .500

in its brief appearances last regular season, and this preseason, it seems like hoi-ball would actually be fun to watch if they had decent players doing it

we're weirdly competitive, even though it's preseason. this'll probably look laughable in a few months or weeks, but i kinda think they might not be bad enough to be as bad as they want to be. by that i mean, might be a 25-30 win team rather than a 15 win team.

so bobby portis got into a fight with niko and put him in the hospital

I wonder if Niko accused Bobby of having eaten his Chuckles.
