Imagine hating someone for playing well, not like, in the moment, but 35 GD years after the fact. Daniel Murphy went 9/17 with 4 dongs in 4 games in the NLCS three years ago, and I only hate him because he's a terrible person.

i hate him for both

and horsefeathering chris taylor, justin turner, and [expletive] hernandez

and horsefeathering john starks

who cares about starks, the knicks lost. he just made it more fun for us to win. also:

That length/AAV for a contract is potentially crippling if it goes bad. I don't think Harper is as much of a sure thing as Trout, and I'm not even sure he's a whole lot better than KB going forward

not to say anything of harper, but pretty much nothing is going to be potentially crippling to the cubs financially anywhere in the near or long term.

Theo won't blink an eye on 40 per on Harper, nor should he. The opt outs involved will allow for him to get even more cash too. Theo ain't even truly trying to hide this either.

The key is keeping from hitting 245 mill next year and we'll be able to do that.

If we miss on him though, who DO we spend on? And I'm not thinking Machado is the actual answer.....

Kikuchi? Kershaw? Blackmon or Pollock? One of the closers like Britton, Kimbrel, or Miller?

Obviously, in some of those casee you can grab multiples for the same money it'd count on the LT for Bryce.

Still, I think we're getting Harper anyway.

page 2 - how about none of the above

Chatwood has a 2.80 ERA season and we attach him with Heyward's contract and send him to the angels

He was right because they were already crippled so nothing could do it to them.

Hopefully they don’t forget to call Theo

Edit: also since its Nightengale we can say the Phillies have given up on signing Bryce right?
