I posted a few times in the thread last night but it was too difficult to keep up since I had family with me as I watched so now I've completely read the entire thread, and cried a few more times in the process. Just a couple thoughts.. a co-worker today, who has zero interest in baseball, told me she watched the entire game last night and was riveted. She told me that she was really drawn to the Cubs because they seemed much more like a "team" and the players appeared to genuinely like each other and gave off the vibe of all being "BFF's". That is what I love most about this team. The fact that no one person has an ego above the others and that they all appreciate what each person brings to the table. That is what makes them special to me and that is what I will take away most from this championship.

Lastly, it's all still too surreal. I was unable to really do any work today and I'm now home re-watching the game and post-game from last night in a much more relaxed manner. I look forward to my trip to Chicago in a week and a half as I can't wait to get pictures of the marquee and the AC sign. I only wish I could be there for the parade because that will be amazing.

Thank you Tim for this site and thank you guys and gals for all your posts, good and bad. We now know how it feels to be fans of the greatest team in baseball!

Yeah totally. We got so lucky with this team. It could have happened with so many other teams but this was worth the wait for me. You've got a team full humble, goofy guys who are all locked up forever and seem to love hanging around with each other. Then add in how many are potential MVPs or HOF types. Most who know nothing but the Cubs.

Just think for a mminute if you could go back and make the 2003 team the one that did it or 07 or 08. 03 was a mix of veterans and young arms that Dusty had already abused hard. 08 you're still looking at pretty much Geo as your main young piece. Even if you don't go all butterfly effect about this team never happening if that one wins it, just look at who is going to be canonized and tell me that having these guys isn't a gazillion times better than those other teams.

I'm only 34 and didn't live in Chicago til '90. So I missed the heart breaks of the 80s andthe dregs of all the decades before that. But I got to experience the desolate suck age of the 90s taste the sand of 2003 and the blank nothingness of abject failure in 07/08. So I feel like I can at least identify with the older generations a little in their experiences. So all for the good.

But damnnnnnn did we get lucky with this group. So fun to watch them, see interviews, gifs, all of it. I didn't suffer long but way glad to be reaping the same reward. Love these guys. Will watch that KB final out sooooo many times.

I'm still overwhelmed, so I don't have much to say right now. Just trying to help push the thread towards 108.

Same. Just completely overwhelmed, exhausted and in awe. Yet I always had a sense of confidence and optimism in this team to pull it off.

It's funny, watching the game live, I was so excited that I didn't really notice Bryant's slip while delivering that final throw. But every one of the dozen or more times I've watched the replay, my heart almost skips a beat when I see it.

I couldn't take reading this board since game 3 of the NLCS. I had so much nervous energy all October. I remember this board back in 03 and 08 and everything in between. I have learned a ton from much smarter baseball people here but I knew I would be even more of a nervous wreck because this team meant so much more than any other team since I have been visiting this board and the Cub Reporter site. The only thing that compared to this team was some of my oldest Cub memories of when I fell in love with them in 87 and mostly in 89 and the boys of Zim. That season was so magical that I became a cubs fan for life following Walton & Smith with Ryno and Dawson. That team resonated so much because of the seemingly so much fun they had together. Looking at them as a kid it made me feel like what baseball makes people feel.

As an adult and experiencing more Cubs success than ever before I felt like having a good team to root for was fun but the connection was never as solid. Sure Aram & DLee were awesome and Big Z had his moments but nothing felt, for lack of a better word, "pure baseball." I chalked it up to being an adult and losing some of that sentimentality. However, slowly I started to see and feel differently once this team came together. Rizzo is a key component to that being a player that I can confidently point to for my 2 young sons to clap for but its more than just a father's sentimentality. Somehow this team makes me feel more like my 2 sons. I realize now that before I rooted for the team to be successful. Now I feel that not only is the team's success something to cheer for but the personal success of the players is similarly important. Their attitude and genuine personalities with fans and each other makes being a Cub fan better now than ever before.

I can honestly say that if this team never won and 10 years from now a different team broke the curse, I would still feel more love for this team than any other. Legends forever they will be to all Cub fans for their performance. Legends for me they will be because of them as people and how they are together.

I still sit here in wonderment that we all can say we Cubs fans are at the pinnacle of baseball. It feels better than I ever hoped it would be. Heartfelt thank yous to Tim most of all for this community but to everyone else that make the community alive please understand that I appreciate you all and I cant wait to learn more from you for many more happy days like today.

I know MLBN will show some/most of the stuff, but is there any way to watch CSN's coverage of the parade and everything tomorrow online for someone not in the Chicago area?

Seems like some of us are sharing our stories..here is mine.

I've always been a Cubs fan, but never really followed baseball (or sports for that matter) until my early teens around the time the Bulls were winning in the 90s. Anyway, I would go to a game or so every year, usually with my church as a 'reward' for being an altar boy. Heck, I even went to a few Sox games for free on National Cancer Survivors day (as I am also a leukemia survivor like some of our Cubbies!). The home run chase of 98 is really something that started my day in, day out following of the Cubs and it just took off from there.

2003....I remember calling my mom from work after they lost game 7...choked up asking her if this is how she felt in 69, 84, etc. I was crushed. I couldn't even watch highlights of game 6/7 for months after.

We all know how the next decade or so went. I did go to game 2 of the NLDS in 08. What a stinker! But an awesome experience and environment. That same year, I met my future wife on a random comment from her online saying she saw my picture at Wrigley and she was a Cubs fan too. Years later, I proposed to her on the field itself! (I joked to my Sox friends that SOMEONE from Wrigley should have a ring). We had a Cubs colored themed wedding. It was great!

2015 was a great year and while it didn't end the way we all hoped, it was really a different feeling that despite the disappointment, we were on the cusp of something special and I couldn't wait until this year!

My 14 month old son is already catching on. Whenever I watch games or highlights...He knows when to clap when something good happens. He was woken up by our cheering last night and my wife ran into his room...said the Cubs won and he sat up, clapped a couple times, and plopped back asleep!

This championship is really the best sports moment of my life....hell, one of the best overall moments. The Cubs are so intertwined into many of my other important life events (see above), it really is amazing.

I used to follow another, slower, crappier message board and I just remembered hearing about this one at one point, popped in, and it has been a blast following the interaction the past couple months!

Go Cubs!

Wish I could be there in person to read all of the personal notes people are writing in chalk on Wrigley.

Russell before Game 7.

I'm pretty sure at least one woman behind the dugout is now pregnant because of those moves.

Not that it matters much, but for accuracy sake, this was before game 6.

Hahaha Fat Lance is butthurt 13 years later

Lance Berkman: No one was sorrier to see the Indians lose to the Cubs than the former Astros slugger. Appearing on an iHeart radio show Thursday morning, Berkman talked about several bad memories tied to the Cubs, including in June 2003 when fans sitting in Wrigley Field's left-field bleachers tossed Twinkies at him as they mocked his physique.

"Yes, I wanted the Indians to win. I hate the Cubs. In fact, I don't know if you remember this but I volunteered to push the button if they ever wanted to blow up Wrigley Field," Berkman said.

And also Wrigley's super scary thunderstorms!!!!

I think I can pinpoint the exact moment when I realized this had a good chance of happening. My worst co-worker is (not coincedentally) a cat enthusiast. She has a daily calendar with pictures and quotes based on those pics. Well, April 29th, when I walk into the office she gives me the calendar page from the day before. The picture is a cat with a Cubs helmet on its head and says, "This is the year". The Cubs were dominating to the tune of a 17-5 start at that point, with 9 games scoring at least 7 runs. Record breaking run differential. Arrieta was still in God mode. Lester didn't have any of the early season struggles he had in 2015. Hendricks was dealing. First half Hammel.

Oddly enough, the whole "waiting for things to go wrong cause Cobs" never really happened for me. Even after the Rajai Davis HR. I was more annoyed than anything else. This team just felt like a team of destiny.

So here I am, getting teary eyed with every article I read or video that I watch. Yesterday I called my mom. She's 85 but still goes to about a dozen games a year. I couldn't believe how matter of fact she was about the Cubs winning the World Series. She starts telling me about her bridge game and I'm thinking "How are you not more excited about the Cubs?". Then it occurred to me that she's probably still in a little bit of disbelief. I don't know if it's part of being a Cubs fan and having my heart broken 5 different times but I was actually nervous watching a replay of the final out as though somehow Bryant actually airmailed the throw and the tying run scored again in the tenth.

This is so strange.

Well, Wrigley Field is where all the scary mean lightning is, so I can understand his perspective.

Haha didn't see this when I posted my response.

2 mornings later and I still don't think it has sunk in totally yet. I watched so many video clips and replays of the game and interviews and .. just everything. The lack of sleep is finally starting to catch up. Its crazy seeing all the cubby blue being worn everywhere I go. The amusement park near us has the Ferris wheel lit up to form a cubs C. This is definitely turning out to be more then I ever could have even thought to be. What a great team, great players, great season and so many great fans. I love this team. Go Cubs (oh and 108 pages)

I haven't read every single post in this thread, so this may have been mentioned already, but game 7 featured the league leaders in ERA+ for both the AL and NL going head to head in Kluber and Hendricks.

Fitting I suppose.

I don't think I've really seen this said and it's such a simple thing but how cool is it that the final out was bryant to rizzo.

Ooooooh, tornado sirens in the Midwest, that NEVER happens.

horsefeathers, he played for and is FROM Texas; I think the state national anthem is tornado sirens. He's a swollen-faced goober.
