Lackey makes more and more sense tonight or tomorrow when you consider Edwards isn't likely to pitch back to back days, Rondon is dead, probably want to keep Monty fresh enough tonight to use tomorrow if they have that luxury, Chapman won't have as big a leash tonight and who knows how careful they are going to be with Strop. Moral of the story, score runs jerks and make this a RD game

Edwards only got one out the other night and there's been a day off in between. He'll be fine to pitch tonight.

Well yeah. But it's likely he only goes tonight or tomorrow. I know you have to get to tomorrow but if he goes tonight having Lackey tomorrow isn't an awful idea given Edwards probably won't go.

Think he meant game 7.

Well they aren't gonna "save" Edwards tonight for a game that might not happen tomorrow.

EDIT: I missed the "or tomorrow" part of his post.

My bullpen confidence order would be something like this:

Chapman

Monty

Edwards

Lester

Strop

Lackey

Wood

Grimm

Rondon

FIXED

It's not fixed, it's just your opinion. I have mine, you have yours. I didn't say that's the order Joe would use, it's just the order I'm most confident someone can get people out.

Edit; And there's no way I would have Edwards over Strop in a high leverage situation.

im right youre wrong

Yeah, I'm not saying they should "save" anyone for tomorrow. Just that using Lackey tonight or tomorrow makes some sense knowing some limitations guys may have if they are used tonight or tomorrow.

Baez, 2B

Congrats!

Let's go MF'ers

I like it. I wouldn't have been too upset if they'd started Montero over Contreras (since I know Jake loves Miggy's game calling), but this is a good mix of offense and defense.

It will be 2-0 Cubs after the 2nd batter tonight.

Yeah for some reason this feels like one of those games where we are all nervous and expecting a low scoring stress fest, and then the Cubs randomly put up 4-5 runs early and we coast.

That's what game 4 of the NLCS felt like to me, then it was a cakewalk. Hopefully a 10-2 drubbing and an 8-1 WS clincher are in the works, and I can look back on Wednesday night and laugh at myself for taking 10 years off of my life expectancy.

The odds of Schwarber getting one more AB go up significantly with this move. And, you have the back end of the Indians BP with RH's. Astute move by Joe. Expect to see it tomorrow too.

Also like Javy at 9. Not because I think they'll pitch him any differently, but hopefully with the cavalry coming right behind he's more apt to lay off the waste pitches he's been chasing. Even a modestly selective Baez changes this lineup's complexion significantly.

schwarber's going to be demanding fellatio after all his killer at bats

You offering? ;-)

Let's win 2 games and I will get back to you

My gf and I were planning on going to dinner tonight to celebrate our anniversary. Originally, she suggested going early so I could watch the whole game, but I just got a text from her saying she wanted to veg on the couch and have a World Series night at home and, get this, make deluxe nachos!!!!! No prompting from me and she has no idea about the lucky game day nachos. Not all Cardinals fans are terrible people.

My rule is you root for the Senior Circuit when it comes to the World Series. Unless, in my case, it's the Mariners vs. come non-Cub NL team. So I'm not surprised.

P.S. Sounds like you got a keeper, although it's a shame she likes the Cardinals. At least it's not the White Sox.

Actually, that's more of a guideline. I was rooting for the Red Sox over the Cardinals - pleased to see the BoSox celebrating in Busch Stadium.

Greetings from beautiful Fort Gratiot, MI.

Being stuck near Port Huron, can anyone guide me to a wonderful place to watch God Mode Jake and the Dong Show besides my hotel room?

Thanks!

I don't post here much -- just a lurker really, but thought I'd give my opinion on this game.

I seem to have a bad feeling about this game. Really really hope I'm wrong and that we can keep our season alive, but I just don't see it happening tonight.

Appreciate you joining us, but seems kind of strange to go out of your way to bring negativity to the thread.

Tickets for SRO game 7 are $1300 on Stub Hub right now. I would have to think buying them now is the best bet, to see the Cubs win the WS. If the Cubs force game 7 I would have to imagine the prices skyrocket.

Plan would be to call in sick tomorrow, leave Chicago around 10am, then leave the game around 1am Eastern to be back home between 6-7 Central time for work Thursday.

while still technically possible, I was pretty sure Schwarber was going to hit a 3 run dong in the 1st, if he does we're in great shape.
