this is the darkest hour, guys. We're going to win this series. It's going to take 7 games, but we're going to win this series. We just need to be dragged down to the point of ultimate despair so that the high when we win will be euphoria beyond imaginging

or im drunk

It's probably not going to happen. It could, but you shouldn't bet on it.

It's smarter to assume the worst and allow yourself to be pleasantly surprised. Otherwise, you're setting yourself up for crushing disappointment.

Just need to win tomorrow (regardless of how this finishes) and go from there.

How can you call a stadium "progressive field" when the team that plays there has a mascot that's a big red-faced indian?

Heh, my mom literally said the same thing as they showed that ridiculous racist jerk painted with feathers in Game 2.

The fucked up thing is this: We've got a big pitching advantage tomorrow. And if we win, we've got a decent advantage in game 6 too.

I shut it off. Joe Buck's misery porn is too much for me to handle. Going to go throw up for a few hours and cry myself to sleep.

I would really reconsider the impact sports has on your well-being. That isn't healthy.

I'm really beginning to wonder if Ski is mentally ill. 99% of the time he's a case study in irrationality and uncontrolled anger, and then he'll try and come off all zen. Or maybe it's just all a bit he's putting on.

Does anyone else think this game might've been different if KB didn't butcher 2 plays in the second?

No. In order to win a baseball game, you have to score runs

I agree. But once they went down it might've changed their mindset. Especially KBs.

He wasn't hitting before the errors

The horsefeathers up thing is this: We've got a big pitching advantage tomorrow. And if we win, we've got a decent advantage in game 6 too.

Which makes last nights 1-0 loss even more tough to take.

I work hard to maintain my composure, but last night I was about as mad about a Cubs game as I've ever been.

Mainly, I'm mercurial. I actually do have a big interest in zen and eastern ways of thinking, but I did have heavy anger issues in the past. In real life, it's easier for me to calm myself down. Online, it's easier to vent irrationally because it feels good (and last night I was more invested in the game; tonight I've been avoiding watching it because I knew it would get me worked up). Basically, I'm still working on things, and by all means, anyone can call me out on my horsefeathers whenever they'd like; I really need it sometimes.

Also, if you get attached to certain outcomes, like the Cubs playing well, and reality goes another way, you're going to get upset. If you focus purely on the negative, you're going to get bummed out. Or, you can see this as the best team in baseball getting outplayed in a short series on a fluke, and the fact that we're STILL the champions of the national league. Putting things in perspective really helps. And in the grand scheme of things, compared to the life you live, including your loved ones and passions, sports don't matter much.

Anyone who is seriously having issues watching the Cubs collapse (barring an epic comeback), should probably take a long, hard think, and consider how a sports team losing actually impacts your quality of life.

They hit at least 3 balls today off kluber and miller that would've been home runs yesterday and they could get it out of the inflield against some scrub who gave up more home runs that 99% of the league. Yeah that irritated me.

The losers and doom boners that I've never seen post are out in full force tonight. This team won't lay down tomorrow, they'll send it back to Cleveland. Then if we get a good Arrieta we'll push it to 7 where anything can happen. Odds are long but I'll bet they've got a 1/10 shot after tonight.
