Sorry no creative game thread. Wanted to get this up as I won't have time in the morning. The Cubs don't need creative game threads though. Why?

Because #wearegood

Let's beat up a tired Kershaw and prepare to make this a short series.

I'm getting dragged out to celebrate my six-month wedding anniversary tomorrow night, so I will be stuck checking the game on my phone. Hoping for a good one though.

I feel OK about this one, all things considered. Lineup will be strengthened by Contreras and Soler; hopefully Russell moves down to 8th or something.

This is the type of game that will test the Cubs grittiness. Much like what the Dodgers did against the Cubs tonight, the Cubs will have to do against the Dodgers tomorrow. If we can keep the runs down for the Dodgers to 3 or so, we can give ourselves a chance at the end as long as we make Kershaw work and get his pitch count up.

It's important though to get this game if it's within reach. The next 3 are in LA, and you don't want to put too much pressure on yourself to get it back to Chicago.

this is the pivotal game. the dodgers are gambling throwing Kershaw out there, after working so much, on the road, to try to put a charge into their hopes - we can dash them. We win this game, I think this series is just about over.

I'm so glad I don't have to wait an extra day for it. Go Cubs!

If the Cubs can manage to walk away after tomorrow with a win I don't see how LAD can get back into the series on the backs of Hill,Urias and Maeda. Still amazing that the Cubs have won 4 out of 5 games against very good opponents with Russell and Rizzo being a combined 2 for 38. Everyone else seems to be rounding into form.

I've never been this happy to have grown up a Cubs fan.

I have seen other teams of mine win championships and have magical moments. And they're teams I follow closely, just like the cubs. But nothing has ever made me feel like I did last night except for my wedding day. There's something special about the cubs doing this stuff that no other sport can give me.

This seems like a good night to show the world that 2016 Kyle Hendricks was no fluke. The Cubs playoffs have been highlighted by great pitching by Lester, great late/clutch hitting by the Cubs dongsmiths, the bullpen being pretty strong other than a questionable walk followed by giving up a clutch hit on a 102 mph fastball, twice. Hendricks left his last start early, obviously, but that stopped most casual fans from really seeing him at his finest. Going against Kershaw, if/when Hendricks outduels him.....there's no stopping him from becoming a household name.

But I also think we're kidding ourselves if we think Kershaw will be anything less than typical Kershaw. I mean, hopefully he will be tired and give up 5 runs like he did in Game 4 vs. Washington....but I don't think we can expect that by any means. I know the Dodgers bullpen is good, but they've been used a lot. If the game is close and late again, I have full faith in the Cubs to win again. Maddon won't get cute with his pen again, and the Dodgers will do nothing with fresh/full innings from Strop, Edwards, and Chapman late.

All the media fawning over Kershaw tonight, and it seems like 1) they forgot Hendricks is pitching and 2) that the fawning over Bumgarner didn't pan out so well last series.

I think over the last 12 hours or so I may be close to breaking the "heart" function on this board. Much like Roberts may break Kershaw's arm. Or the Cubs will break the Dodger's will tonight.
