Well, I loved thinking the theory may have had something behind it. It appears to have turned into a solid sasquatch thesis though.

Yes these 3 innings negate the entire season of numbers.

The theory was him was flipping back into God-mode. I'm not saying he sucks. But his year long stats certainly aren't God-mode either. He's obviously very good.

It's a spring training start. Drawing any meaningful conclusion from it is being reactionary.

Boz also said on the score today that there are about 10 advanced scouts from the Mets/Cardinals/Giants at every game and they are approaching hitters differently than they normally would, unusual pitch sequences and generally treating like spring training to some degree. I'm didn't see jake using much of the slider that he was getting swings and misses on his last start. Who knows what he's really doing out there, what's real and what we can draw conclusions from

Eh, could be true. But I was very hopeful he'd continue off his last outing. Yeah, I'll at least go back to being hopeful.

Disclaimer, I haven't watch more than a few plays tonight, but it's possible he was treating it as a ST game in terms of his pitch selection/mechanics. To try and get any last minute kinks worked out.

Taillon is pretty good. Pirates will be heard from again in short order.

Lol. They're a mid 80s win team at best for the foreseeable future with their budget and dependence on young pitching.

i wouldn't be at all shocked if they bounce back next year

Sure they could but it's likely what they are now is closer to what they are moving forward than anything much better. Unless their 3 young starters all with injury/other question marks stay healthy/improve and their aging superstar has a good mid-late peak career season. Which sure all are possible. I'm just not buying it.

sidenote: part of the reason i am enjoying actively rooting for the mets is knowing mets refugees posters like to lurk here
