Definitely feel the same way and thought the product was slipping last year as well. On some podcast I listen to, I forget which one, the guys were theorizing the poor play has to do with some of the new rule changes of players/teams not being able to practice/be contacted as much in the offseason as they used to and the salary cap structure changing so more teams are keeping rookies/UDFAs/etc instead of more veterans.

Watched the entire day's worth of games with my brother (mostly via Red Zone Channel) and yeah we both noticed as astounding amount of bad plays overall. Turnovers, penalties, drops, etc.

Man I need the Cubs to make a deep run partly to keep my mind off of football this season.

Sure but that's a different set of standards. 18-22 year old amateurs vs. the "best of the best" in the NFL.

It seems like every NFL season is defined by injuries and suspensions. I like watching when it's my team, but it just gets kinda boring in a way college doesn't.
