Yeah, I tip my hat to you CR. I read them everyday, I just don't know enough to comfortably comment much. Always nice to know what's going on in the lower levels.

Same here. Thx cr

Yep. I'm here more to learn than to contribute. Keep it up CF.

This baseball season seems like it flew by -- possibly because it's mainly been a cakewalk for our big league club.

I'll echo the comments of the others. Thanks for all the work you've done in here, CR. We do have some interesting playoff action at the lower levels still, though, guys!

Yup, thanks a ton Cal for getting all of these started.

Sad to see the minor-league season end. Hopefully the playoffs are fun.

had a lot of good developments this season.

Thanks also Tom for a lot of input and discussion.

Cease listed for Eugene tonight, I wonder if he'll really go, or if they'll save him for playoff start. It's all about development, so probably no reason to hold him back. But perhaps they think the playoff pressure/excitement is almost better development experience, who knows.

Nice finale for Kellogg. Ends 107/26 K/BB, that's a good >4:1 ratio. Ends 3.03 ERA, that's nice too. 8 HR's is kinda high, that's going to be an issue for him.

Only 2 HR second half, 52K/9BB/2HR second half is very nice.

Kellogg is a great example of why pitchers would have liked to dabble in steroids in years past. If he had his stats and control, but suddenly added solid velocity, he'd be a very popular prospect.

Eloy back today, 0-3.

Thanks for the kind words, guys.

I'm late to the party, but thank you, Raisin, for creating these every day. It's much appreciated.

Heh heh, 39K/21IP, that's a good way to wrap up a season.

I wonder what kind of variants he has on his curve. A lot of guys will have the big, slow curve, maybe as a 2-strike chase pitch; but also have a much smaller curve that they can more consistently throw for strikes, even if it's more of a grounball pitch than a big K pitch.

In this video from last night, his curve looks pretty big; can't imagine he can throw those for strikes real consistently, especially if guys could control themselves and just not swing. Hopefully he's got or will develop the smaller throw-for-strikes variant.

Raisin ... thanks for posting the scores all year. I am sure that I am in the minority but this is the first thread that i look at each day. I use the links to look at each box score.

If I can be needlessly contrarian, I'll say Ryan Williams is our best pitching prospect, as long as his mystery injury is an actual injury and he wasn't kidnapped by the cartel or something. De la Cruz is a better prospect than Cease though.

I'm a little concerned that de la Cruz had 5 excellent starts after 3 months of rest/rehab, but then his last 3 were blah/bad. Maybe just the normal ups and downs hot-cold that players go through over a season. But I'm a little nervous that after resting for months his bad arm felt OK for a while, but maybe it didn't take long for it to start not being so good again. Paranoid, paranoid.....

Eh, that just looks like regression, as he's not going to be completely unhittable. I want to hear some velo reports though, as he DID seem to be up and down a bit.

To me, Cease is easily our best pitching prospect, due to the idea he'd garner more in trade than any of the others.

I think we may wind up pleasantly surprised though, when Clifton starts showing up in some top 100 lists. Law thinks he's a future mid rotation guy. Not sexy, but fairly solid praise nonetheless, from him. I bet he's in his top 100 anyway.

Posted
I asked Law in his chat yesterday about Kellogg, trying to frame it in a way we'd get some info. I insinuated him throwing 87-88, Law didn't correct it and does not see him adding velo either. He also doesn't see him as a starting pitcher.

Can you find where Longenhagen said that? Are you saying that no one outside of Cease has more than swing starter capability, by the way? Kind of sounds like it.

And I get you love your lefties and all, but holy horsefeathers, Johnson and Underwood both were much more highly thought of than Kellogg. Their draft position and bonus is all that's needed to prove that. Not to mention that both have possessed multiple plus pitches at different points in their minor league lives, while I've yet to see Kellogg has one.

All Kellogg has done to date is do what Eric Jokisch did in A Ball. I was hoping for Law to correct me on his velo, but he didn't. Nor have we seen anything substantial all year on it. Neither have we heard a thing about a plus offering. I'm hoping there's an end of the year report that shows SOMETHING. Because, if not, he's just a college level lefty that took advantage of young hitting in A Ball, kind of like they're supposed to. No different than Jokisch.

So, what exactly does a resume get you in baseball, if you've got no plus pitches and no velo? I'm not even trying to be a smart ass.
