Javy is unbelievably talented defensively but sometimes makes totally inexplicable decisions like earlier in the year at short when he threw to third to try to get a runner and Bryant wasn't expecting it and it cost us a run

Gonzalez is so slow too, they would have nailed him. what a stupid way to lose a game. good thing it doesn't really matter

you're taught to go with the ball, once he played it off that hop the instinct is to go to 2nd instead of taking several steps to re-orient to go to 1st. It wasn't the right decision, but it shouldn't be a super surprising mistake. After all Zobrist was in RF and Baez had to slow the throw to wait for him and Seager might have still been out.

Hopefully this is a nice learning experience for a young guy. Just examining the situation before the pitch and thinking about where he should throw with where his teammates are postioned and who is running and all that.

 

The biggest win was Edwards getting out of it and then when things unraveled not letting it get to him.

This would be a dumb loss, but there have been dumber, and we're probably going to be going into September with a magic number in the teens anyway.
