I don't understand why Joe wouldn't be willing to use Chapman when the heart of the order is coming up in the eighth.

Agreed. One of those situations where the whole closer role becomes nonsensical. Especially in the future when Rondon is healthy.

The more I see the Strop play the more I think it's either his ankle or Achilles and not a knee injury.

 

I've watched the video 20 times now and there just isnt any torque or twisting on that knee, so I'm inclinded to believe you that's it's achilles/ankle. In that scenario, god I hope it's ankle. Achilles is about worst case scenario even when talking knee.

Closers with the resume of Chapman don't get used in setup situations. That's just the way it is, no matter how progressive the manager is.

 

At least it seems that way in the regular season. I bet he'd have used Arnoldis there if this waste WS.

I don't think its his achilles cause he took a couple of steps afterwards and was in some pain, with achilles he doesn't ever make it off of the ground. I'm thinking hamstring or quad. Hoping for cramps.
