Not only did the Cards lose, but they lost in heartbreaking fashion to one of baseball's worst teams on a Wainwright start, on a blown save from their second closer, right after the trade deadline where they did nothing to address the pen. Suck it.

I think maybe you forgot about a certain left-handed someone?

You didn't? You remembered that I...

Oh. OK. Well, never mind then...

Edwin Diaz K'd 3 guys to get his first save of the year. His K/9 is sitting at a cool 18.0 over 26 innings. If he can keep it above 16.66 it would be a record for a relief pitcher, though he may not have the innings to qualify.

The D-backs now have the second worst record in the majors ahead of the Braves.

bet they're happy with signing Zack Greinke for a billion dollars now

In the first three games of a four game series against the Twins, the Indians have allowed 35 runs. The SP in these games have been Salazar (who is now on the DL), Carrasco and Bauer. The Twins have set a record for the most XBH tallied against the Indians in a four game series, and there's one game left to go.

This is all remarkable because the Indians' staff is the one of the best in the game, and the Twins' offense is pretty average.

Sergio Romo got the win today despite not facing a batter. He entered with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th and a runner on first, but the runner was thrown out stealing. The Giants scored in the 10th and Casilla closed it out.

First time it's happened since 2009.

remember when multiple posters were worried that the cardinals might get to within 6.5?

They were 6.5 out

Yes

That, and this is just kind of a weird post in general. It's not like people were losing their minds over the Cubs getting to 6.5 out when the Cubs were, like, a dozen games up on them. The Cardinals were literally at 6.5 games out.

Yes and I thought it was funny then to be worried about potentially having a much worse team within 6.5 games (which, yes, ultimately came to fruition for a bit, which changes nothing about what I'm saying) and it's still funny. Oh, my God, six and a half games ?!

What's weird is how defensive you are about a playful comment (hell, I wasn't even thinking of you as one of those posters but you might've been) making fun of how bleak it was getting around here a couple weeks ago. Hell, the Cardinals were probably rooting for the Cubs this week.

Easy there; nobody's getting riled up. It just seemed like a weird thing to be crowing over. It's not like someone would be crazy to be worried about the Cardinals potentially creeping closer during that stretch.
