Well hope the Cardinals don't win for the 30th time in a row. This was one we should have won. (Obviously we can still come back in 9th) Edited by UMFan83

This is on Arrieta and Joe. Why put Arrieta out there with 90 pitches? And Arrieta crapped the bed, especially when one guy was begging to give up an out.

Arrieta threw like 4 balls combined to his last 2 hitters, umpire refused to call them.

That's sort of irrelevant. They were called balls. And they were hardly center cut fastballs. Sometimes you don't get the corner.

Even then, Arrieta had retired 7 straight and wasn't laboring, having him start an inning with 90 pitches against the bottom half of the order is perfectly fine.

this is meatballish but i think arrieta's confidence is kind of wavering these days. i'd have loved for him to exit the game with a clean scorecard and then hand it over to the bullpen of doom. now he goes into his next start knowing when he's sharp he can still let the game get away from him a bit.

This is like a 9 on a scale of frustrating losses if we can't come back.

Garbage pitcher completely stymies your offense keeping up with your ace: 4 points

Shiny new bullpen toy blows the game: 3 points

Ace dominates all game and then starts getting squeezed leading to the tying and go ahead runs scoring and ruining his previously stellar line: 2 points

[expletive]. Gonna suck waiting all day for tomorrow's game.

I would think you would enjoy as much time between Cubs games as possible.

I don't think that's irrational, and especially since it was the 8th I'd have been fine with Rondon starting the inning. But the 'what the heck why is Jake starting the inning?' reaction doesn't add up. He had been mowing down the lineup all day, and deserved better from the ump than BB/BB to start that inning too.

Crush the Marlins early?

Late 4 run rally?

16th inning walkoff?

Breaking the longest active save streak?

Crush a pitcher who hasn't lost at home since early April with and ERA in the 1's?

What type of win will it be?

The wild pitch on Montero or Chapman? Im listening on radio and picturing Montero catching Chapman looking like the years in Bronco or Mustang when the nastiest pitcher in the league humorously gets paired up with the coach who forgets to draft a catcher.... & 5k innings with parades of pass balls, sb's, walks and drop third strikes hilariously ensues

Montero left a gap between the dirt and his glove. The ball found it.

On radio it was described as a fastball Montero barely moved his glove for..

That's just how good he is at framing.

Why do you keep indicating the second at-bat was on the ump?

Oh, I have no doubt that this is when they'll actually lose, because THAT'S actually more annoying right now than them gaining ground, especially when it's a game the Cubs should have won.

Picture a Chapman fastball with its velocity and plane headed for Montero's 5 hole, and didn't hit the ground until it was about under him. Not a low degree of difficulty, but one he is responsible for.
