Soler for Hill and Reddick

Meh I would be more interested in Soler + prospects for Gray + Reddick.

and then he can make for some depth in iowa

He's also a righteous dude.

Also I know everyone is aware of the fact that he has fairly extreme splits favoring him hitting against RHP, but holy crap are his splits cartoonish this year (big SSS disclaimer)

vs. RHP: .966 OPS (177 PA)

vs. LHP: .417 OPS (60 PA)

I'm generally more in the TT camp of not wanting marginal upgrades, but...that would give us a pretty intriguing Reddick/Baez platoon.

Interesting but seems against Theo's MO to trade young cost controlled talent for 2 rentals, even if they are looking to move Jorge.

The best way to make a deal in your favor is to go against the conventional wisdom of what you like to do.

Did you get that from Trump's book? Because it doesn't make much sense.

Ugh. Soler has a higher career OBP% than Reddick (!), he's 5 years younger and still has incredible upside. He was also looking great before the hamstring. Like TT said, make a real impact move or stay quiet. It's the best team in baseball as currently constructed.

If we end up not dealing Soler I'm not gonna be too upset about waiting and seeing if he realizes any more of his potential. Especially if he is gonna go in a deal for a position player.

However, if he is the main piece of a deal and we can move his 2 months at a time of middling offense and bad defense for a MOR or TOR SP I would be thrilled.

"Great." As in, "hey, maybe he can be replacement-level!"

Nah.

Not that I think there's a chance in hell he just picks up where he left off and keeps rolling.

That I actually knew about it; he's still a disaster everywhere else, so we're still looking at him having to be a bat god consistently to actually be a usable starter.

I feel this way too. Worst case scenario is he damages his trade value and that would suck if we didn't have several quality prospects that could also be key pieces in trades.

With the pen recently reinforced by Montgomery and Edwards' arrival, and with the rotation not lacking for back end options with Warren showing well along with Matusz, I only want to make another deal for someone who is really good and has few question marks. Or in other words, don't play around with marginal upgrades like Reddick, Hill, Shoemaker, Abad, etc. If you make a deal, go big with a CarGo, Archer, Gray, Miller, etc.

i get the point, but Shoemaker is actually good and Gray is bad, bad, bad
